Consolidating iPad/iPhone vaults with Mac vaults
In my disjointed updating of hardware and 1Password versions (v5.3 on my Mac and v5.4.3 on iOS) over the last 12 months, I have ended up with a vault (titled Primary) on my 2 Macs which is 'in sync' via Dropbox. However, on my iPad and iPhone I appear to have a separate vault (also titled Primary) which is syncing to an iCloud location. I am sure they are separate because the number of items is quite different.
My objective is to consolidate these 2 vaults as simply as feasible through Dropbox (not iCloud), as they have 400-500 items each, of which I estimate 25% are unique. The shared one on my Macs is the most 'current', so the iOS Primary one is the one with some useful data that I would like to consolidate into the Mac Primary vault.
Having them both currently named Primary seems to be a syncing complication. Also, I am worried about which items in each Vault overwrites the related item in the other vault.
Thoughts?
Thank you!

Hi @prof939,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us with this issue. I'd be happy to help you get back in sync. :)
The first thing I would recommend doing is backing up each device:
iOS: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/
Mac: https://support.1password.com/backup-faq/mac.htmlThen turn off iCloud sync on each iOS device and turn on Dropbox sync. You'll likely get a warning that the vaults are different, and a merge is not recommended (this is why we have the backups though, so we're going to go ahead). Click the "More Info" button on the prompt, and then click "Merge Anyway."
Worst case scenario is we restore your backups (using the above instructions). Best case scenario is the merge goes smoothly and everything is back in sync. :)
I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Hi Ben,
Thank you for the quick reply, but I have had some other distractions until today. I did the backups, but can't seem to initiate the other syncing.
I disabled the Sync with iCloud, but when I select Sync with Dropbox, I get another screen that is too cryptic. Attached is a screen shot. Clicking on the info button just gets me info. Clicking on the Connect Another Account link takes me to a Dropbox screen requesting that I allow 1password access to my files/folders, which I then select. There is a brief 'authorizing' action that seems to happen and then I am back at my 1password login screen and enter my master password. I get a 'choose a vault' screen (see second attachment), which when I select the link gets me an info screen that says Vault Exists on your iPad. The result is no obvious syncing to the other Primary file, and certainly no Merge Anyway screen.
What might I be doing wrong?
thanks,
David

Success, I think! In messing around again and again, I discovered that I did not go as far in the 'stop sync' chain of screens as I should have. The next screen after the one above was where I found myself eventually and saw the 'stop using this account' link which I had not used. Selecting that finally took me on the chain of links/choices that got me to the 'merge anyway' objective that you identified earlier.
Thank you!
