More Options for Multiple Vaults

Are there still plans to allow multiple vaults in iOS that does not require the syncing to Dropbox, but instead wifi or none/disabled?

  • Hi @tchen,

1Password for Mac's WiFi sync already supports multiple vaults. Beyond that and Dropbox I'm not aware of any definite plans at this time.

    Thanks!

Just to confirm, I read your reply as saying that given multiple vaults on 1Password on Mac, syncing ONE of them to 1Password for iOS will sync ALL of them.
    Correct me if I misinterpret.

If so, is (1) 1Password 5 (or 4, but with multi-vault sync implemented) planned for Windows, or is (2) 1Password Alpha going to eventually replace 1Password for Windows?

If (2), will Alpha have similar feature of multi-vault implemented?

  • Hi @tchen,

In 1Password 5 for Mac if you have multiple vaults, you can choose which ones to include in WiFi sync. Your primary vault is always included (not optional), but others—although enabled by default—are optional.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as "1Password Alpha"?

I do know that further consistency across our products is a big picture goal, but I don't have further specifics I can share a this point as to the fine details of what that might or might not mean for any specific feature.

    Thanks!

The 1Password Alpha refers to 1Password Modern Alpha (the one available in Windows 10 Store).

So for now, there is no way to have multiple vaults synced between 1Password for Windows and 1Password for iOS, exclusively via Wi-Fi?

    Hi @tchen,

So for now, there is no way to have multiple vaults synced between 1Password for Windows and 1Password for iOS, exclusively via Wi-Fi?

At this time, 1Password for Windows handles 'multiple' vaults differently than Mac and iOS, so it will not be possible to sync multiple vaults from 1Password for Windows to 1Password for iOS exclusively over Wi-Fi. As Ben mentions above, we are focussing on increasing the cross-platform consistency of our features, so this may change in the future, but I can't comment any more specifically than that.

is (2) 1Password Alpha going to eventually replace 1Password for Windows?

1Password for Windows Modern is being developed as a mobile solution. Again, we make it a point not to discuss unreleased features, so I can't say for certain how 1Password for Windows will look in the future, but we want to ensure that users have access to their 1Password data both on Windows desktop, and Windows mobile, however that might look. :)

I hope this answers your questions, but if we can be of any further assistance, we're happy to help!

So now you can create multiple vaults on iCloud with syncing them all?

    @justme12

One way is to sync between 1Password 5 for Mac and 1Password for iOS via WiFi.
Another way is to sync between 1Password for iOS and 1Password for Mac/Windows/iOS/Android via Dropbox.

It seems iCloud will not sync multiple vaults.

Thanks - In reading the info on the iOS app update today I thought maybe iCloud could do the multiple sync now. Pretty sure it is a restriction of iCloud but thought I would ask.

    Thanks for info @tchen

  • Dropbox or WiFi sync w/ Mac are currently the only ways to sync multiple vaults.
