Credit card pet peeve: phone numbers

When creating a credit card entry on my iPhone, I can only enter digits in the phone number fields—no punctuation. I find these ten-digit strings to be illegible, so I always wind up editing the phone numbers on the desktop app to add hyphens, dots, or parentheses.

If you can't fix this in the data entry, perhaps you could fix it in the display code—displaying phone number punctuation where none is present in the data, just as you now do when displaying spaces in credit card numbers.

I whole-heartedly agree. If you enter a 16-digit card number, it automatically updates with proper formatting: four digit number clusters with space separation. Why can't I enter a phone number and upon saving it makes it in the format (xxx) xxx-xxxx? This doesn't seem like it should be such difficult feature to add across all phone number fields.

  • Thanks for letting us know this would be useful to you, @ardello.
