Licenses for iMac, iPhone and iPad
Hello
I just have a basic questions re licenses. I use 1Password on our iMac but want to share it with my husband on the same iMac, his iPhone and iPad; and a new iPad I am about to buy. I am also using Version 3 so would like to upgrade. I am not using any 1Password extension as it's no longer working (1Password could not be verified for use in Firefox ...)
Thanks

Hi @serky,
Let's start with the easier of the platforms, the Mac. If you're running Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) then sadly you're running the latest version of 1Password that works on that version of OS X. So an upgrade licence to 1Password 4/5 wouldn't help you at all for the moment. What I can say is your husband is covered for use of 1Password 3 on that Mac. If you intend to keep separate vaults it will mean separate OS X user accounts, there isn't an easy way to switch between vaults in 1Password as OS X has always had very good multi-account support. Assuming your husband does have his own user account on the Mac he may need to apply your licence to 1Password 3 but don't worry, that's normal and you're allowed to - you're not misusing your licence by doing this.
The larger issue is that the 1Password 3 Firefox Extension is missing. For more on why this is the case (the not verified message is actually a red herring that has caught almost everybody out) we do have a page, 1Password 3 extension missing in Firefox 40 or later. The bad news is our extension doesn't work in Firefox 40 and it won't going forward. At the moment your best option is Firefox ESR 38 as the extension continues to work there, it's a drop in replacement for Firefox 40 and it will give you some breathing room while you consider your options.
Now for iOS. Our current approach is that you can download a basic version of 1Password for iOS for free. There is a single in-app purchase for some additional features that we've grouped under the title of Pro features. This purchase is optional though and not required. The purchase is sadly per Apple ID so if you share a single Apple ID with your husband it would be one in-app purchase for all of your devices. If you have an Apple ID each it would be two purchases, one each to cover all of your own iOS devices. Your only option at the moment for synchronising a vault between your Mac and iOS devices will be to use Dropbox.
To best guide you at this point it would be handy to know if you want to use a single vault between you or if you want keep separate vaults. With that snippet of information we can cover the steps required

Hi littlebobbytables
thought I'd let you know that I have upgraded everything! Now using OS X El Capitan 10.11.13 with 1 Password 6.1 and the 1Password extension 4.5.4 for Firefox. Everything is now working brilliantly for me. I am in the process of setting up sharing with my husband and will then move to syncing with iOS. This discussion can be closed as I have raised a separate query re syncing which you are currently helping me with.
Thanks! ;)0
