I dropped my iPhone 6 in the river. It no longer works. Can I access my 1Password information elsewhere? Online?? When I get a replacement phone and I download the app again from icloud will my information be there or is stuck on the dead phone?

Did you ever sync your data to iCloud or Dropbox? Or maybe via WiFi to a desktop installation of 1Password? Or, did you ever make a backup of 1Password to iTunes using this procedure: Creating and restoring 1Password backups in iTunes (iOS)? If the answers to all of those questions are No, you probably will have to start over again. AgileBits never stores your information under their control, which is part of the security of the software, but it also means they cannot give you access to lost data.

Now, there is one other possibility, but one that seems unreliable. If you backed up your entire phone to iTunes or to iCloud, you can restore a replacement phone from your backup, and it might restore the data too. But it also might not. Many users in your situation have not been able to retrieve data that way, but I would certainly try it before giving up altogether.

  • There isn't anything I can really add to hawkmoth's response @daviesg. Your only options are if you synchronised your vault, something you would have explicitly set up or if you backed up your iPhone either to iTunes or iCloud. Hopefully your vault is not lost.
