I hadn't notice this before but I have two 1Password folders (135 MB, the other 91 MB) in iCloud manage storage documents and data on my iPhone & iPad. I assume on my last upgrade I should have deleted the smaller folder. Can anyone advice what's going on here and do I need to take any action or is this normal? Thanks

  • I should have mentioned the two folders exists on my Mac also. I'm using the latest versions of OS X 10.10.5 & IOS 8.4.1.

  • Hi @Grunt_at_the_Point,

Can I ask, were you perhaps a 1Password 4 user too and that when you were you also used iCloud to sync? I believe what you're seeing is an artefact from the move from iCloud to iCloud Drive.

If the two folders bother you there is a way but it involves removing both as I don't believe there is an easy way to tell them apart.

    1. Launch 1Password for Mac and enter 1Password's preferences.
    2. Switch to the Sync tab and change the menu option from iCloud to None. Click the Disable Sync button to confirm.
    3. Moving to 1Password for iOS, visit Settings > Advanced and tap the Erase iCloud Data option at the bottom. This will delete the real iCloud Sync data in a safe way.
    4. From either device delete the other instance of 1Password data from within iCloud.
    5. Set up iCloud Sync once again on both devices.

There is a reason for doing this cleanly as we have a bug that we're fixing at the moment. It revolves around what happens if the iCloud data is pulled from under 1Password and it's something you want to avoid. So those above steps will allow you to safely delete one copy of the data which means you can then safely delete the other knowing it's the old one before starting with a clean iCloud Sync container.

If you have any issues or questions please do post back

  • "Can I ask, were you perhaps a 1Password 4 user too and that when you were you also used iCloud to sync?" Yes, you are correct.

Your instructions seem straightforward enough so I will give it try. Thanks.

  • Okay, mission accomplish. Thanks again.

  • Great to hear that the steps helped @Grunt_at_the_Point  Hopefully it will be smooth sailing going forward.

  • One more thing - removing both folders and re-syncing also fixed another problem I had been experiencing here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/comment/123426 - those files I was attempting to delete but could not are now deleted.
