A login that I set up will not auto populate the login page. It send me to the main page.

I set up a login that I had to fill in. The login block at the top does not take me to the login screen nor auto fill the info. The only thing it will do is link me to the main page of the website. Thank you.

  • Hi @andreslcapra,

We'll happily investigate but we'll need the URL to say anything definitive. It would also be very beneficial if you can tell us a little about your system.

    1. What version of 1Password are you running?
    2. What is your preferred browser and the version of that browser.
    3. What version of the 1Password extension is installed?

Between those we should be able to help

    https://Ameriprise.com
    1. Version 5.5
    2. Safari
    3. 2 questions I looked on the safari under the settings tab on both my phone and iPad and didn't see how to find out the info. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I never saw the options that the help link showed.

  • Hi @andreslcapra,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've taken a peek at the site and I know what the issue is. We are aware where if a site uses IFrames the 1Password iOS Extension is unable to interact with it either for saving or filling.

Now all may not be lost. When a site uses an IFrame they're loading a completely different page inside of page. Now the URL for the inner page is https://my.ameriprise.com/FinancialAccounts/html/SECURELOGIN.HTML and if you load that page directly the page will load. As we're loading the contents of the we can bypass the problem with the main page and 1Password for iOS will fill. There is still an element of uncertainty though as I don't know what will happen when you click the Log in button. Some sites will allow us to use this trick, some won't. As it's a financial site there's no easy way for anybody that isn't a customer of theirs to test so we're kind of reliant on your feedback at this point.

Fingers crossed it allows you to log in.

Hello good morning. I followed the link and logged in. I don't understand what I needed to do to link it to my 1password account. Thanks for your help with this.

Good morning. I've attempted to enter several different logins to different institutions and none of them are working. Is there a number I can call to talk to someone to get help as I attempt to do this? Doing this with a message board is not working. Thank you for your help with this.

  • Hello @andreslcapra,

Our primary form of communication right now are these forums and while we do have email, it's benefit over the forum is if a particular issue is complex in nature or we need to communicate about anything vaguely sensitive. As such, while we can move to email I would ask you to give the forums another chance.

The fact that https://my.ameriprise.com/FinancialAccounts/html/SECURELOGIN.HTML allows you to log into your bank is great news. It means that if you visit that page and then follow the steps at Create a new Login item in Safari you will end up with a Login item that will fill at that precise URL. Once you have the Login item created you have a couple of options.

You can bookmark that URL in iOS Safari so you always visit that page. This will allow you to then follow the steps on this page Fill items in Safari. Please note our iOS Safari Extension can fill but it cannot submit the login page, you will need to click the button afterwards.

The other option is to view the Login item in 1Password for iOS. If you tap on the URL it will open the page in 1Browser, 1Password's built-in browser. 1Browser exists because prior to iOS 8 we had no way to interact with Safari. If you tap and hold on the URL three options will appear. One is Open in Safari and this will pass the URL to a new tab in iOS Safari. At this point you can then fill using the steps in Fill items in Safari as above.

Once we have this Login item working we can turn our attention to the others. You may find something here assists or we may need to look at each in turn to understand what is happening. If they are all financial institutions that might explain the frustration. These are notoriously hard for us to test because we have no way of easily creating accounts at them (in contrast to the likes of Amazon, Twitter etc.). Financial institutes also employ a number of odd tools that you will see nowhere else. Their purpose is supposedly to help keep you secure but I just view them as a pain if they don't allow me to use strong passwords from within 1Password.

Let's see how we get along with Ameriprise first.

That worked. Thanks for your help with that. The next one is CETERA financial the website is www.netxinvestor.com It's login is a little different in that you have to enter a financial institution #. It's essentially the same issue where it takes me to the website but nothing else. Thanks for your help with this.

  • Hi @andreslcapra,

So we are definitely having issues with this site and so far I've been unable to successfully create a Login item for the first page on an iOS device.

So the issue here is 1Password for iOS insists you add a password when creating a Login item. If you add a password though filling goes haywire, filling your User ID in the Financial Org # field. I figured this out by comparing a Login item manually saved in 1Password for Mac which simply saves the fields as are and that filled.

So we need to improve matters and that's before we've even looked at the second page where I assume they request a password.

Can I ask, do you only have an iOS device or do you have a Mac as well? If you have a Mac then getting it to at least fill the first page should be possible and I can guide you through the steps. Sadly it does require a Mac at the moment. This one is us though :(

I have the same problem with allmusic.com

    • 1 Password 5 version 5.3.2
    • Safari version 8.0.6
    • 1 Password Extension 4.4.4

When I hover over "Log In" the status bar says "Go to # on this page"

I went to the log in page and used the "Save New Login" command from the 1Password browser’s toolbar icon (following instructions from https://support.1password.com/save-login-manually/).

    Hi @Buddy,

Can you describe which specific problem(s) you're having with 1Password on the allmusic.com site? For instance, does it successfully fill the form but fail to successfully log in after submitting?

If you open the https://www.allmusic.com/sign-in page in Safari and manually save a new Login item from there are you able to use that item to successfully fill, submit, and log in?

Thanks for the additional information and testing!

My Mac is dead I'll be getting a new one in the next several weeks so I'll do it then. The next one is my Velocity Credit Union account. It does the same thing as the others it goes to the login page and doesn't fill anything in. The website is https://m.velocitycu.com. Thanks

    Greetings @andreslcapra,

Can I just quickly ask, when you say CETRA financial site is this the same as https://m.velocitycu.com/ or are they two separate queries and as you have a Mac are you wanting something that works on the Mac, iOS device or both? The reason I ask is when a URL starts with m. instead of www. it generally refers to a mobile version of the website. The mobile version of the site can be quite different so I just want to make sure we put together a good answer for you

The CETRA financial and Velocity Credit Union are two separate sites. I had a discussion in progress about the CETRA. I was told that y'all had issues with the site and that using a Mac would help figure it out. I got my new Mac and replied to the discussion but it had been a while and I guess that the thread was lost in the mix. I would like access to both on my Mac and phone. I hope this makes sense and clears up your question.
    Thanks, Andres

    Hello @andreslcapra,

So as I have the URL for Velocity Credit Union I went off to investigate. Now the url you offered was https://m.velocitycu.com/. As I mentioned earlier this indicates that they have a desktop and mobile version of their site.

My tentative probing means I currently have more questions than answers I'm afraid. I found that if I supplied a fictitious username I was taken to a second page where I was asked randomly selected question from a selection. The main website suggested I was seeing this because

*** Wondering why you are being asked a question?***
Have you enrolled for our new secure sign-on? If not then please Enroll now.

So at this point I'm not sure I'm seeing the same page that you do.

Are you asked to answer a security question randomly selected from a selection or do you see something different? If you're seeing something different can you describe a little given I can't view the page myself. Are you asked for certain characters from a single password or are you asked for the full password? Does it obscure your answer with asterisks so that it looks like ******. I ask as the security question I was asked to answer displayed the text. I apologise but I'm flying blind a bit here as to what the site wants from you. This makes it harder as I can't say I tested solution X and given you should see the same page I believe it will work.

Our page, Using 1Password with login sequences split across multiple pages may help you create a Login item that works on your Mac. I can't say for sure but it could be worth trying the different approaches detailed there. It shows how to create a single Login item that works over more than one page but also says that sometimes you need to keep more than one Login item. It's a process, if we learn you can create one or more Login items that work on a Mac it may bode well for on your iOS device.

I'll wait to hear back from you a bit more about this site

    The order for login is
    1- member #
2- a question from a bank of personal questions
    3- full password
    Thanks

    Hi @andreslcapra,

I'll let you know right from the start, this one will be tricky. 1Password is designed to allow you to fill in a static username and password and the assumption was most pages will ask for everything on a single page. We can cope with multi-page logins as long as they're relatively simple but what we have here is a three page login with the middle page that changes. As I say - tricky.

So what I would like you to do please is the following.

    1. Open the main 1Password window in 1Password for Mac.
    2. Create a basic Login item using the menu File > New Item > Login
    3. Enter your member # for the username and your full password for the password.
    4. Set the website field to https://m.velocitycu.com/c2ht?msdxid=M11I855922930900290809134&qxq=1445958283208&stk=homebase&msestks=velocitycus_v2.xml
    5. Save this Login item.

Now let's test this. Visit https://m.velocitycu.com/ and click the Log In button. You should be able to use the keyboard shortcut ⌘\ to fill your username field and then you'll be taken to the middle page. Answer the question manually for now and proceed to the third page. If you use the keyboard shortcut ⌘\ to fill does it correctly fill your password and allow you to complete the login process?

If it does then we're part of the way there. Let's make sure we can get this bit working first before we proceed with how I can imagine 1Password can help with the middle page.
