I have been using mSecure for my password storage for several years. However, there are a few things about it that I don't like so I bought 1Password Pro to compare. My main beef is with Categories. There are only 17, which have been chosen by 1Password. Apparently there is not an option to add your own categories or choose an icon for them. This is standard with mSecure and has been since I first bought it. For instance I have categories created for "Lock Combination", "Rental Cars", "Investment Accounts", "Insurance", "Vehicle Info", etc. Maybe I overlooked the ability to create Categories. If there is a way, I would appreciate hearing about it. Also, How about an alternative sign in such as 4 digits or a pattern you have to draw.

  • Hi @tnarng,

Thanks for the feedback! We don't currently have any immediate plans to make changes to the way categories work, but there have definitely been some ideas bouncing around. Most items that don't have their own specific category can be placed in Secure Notes, which is a fairly generic, fairly free-form category.

Also, How about an alternative sign in such as 4 digits or a pattern you have to draw.

On devices that have Touch ID you can enable that in the 1Password > Settings > Security menu. For devices that do not have Touch ID you'll instead find the option to enable a 4-digit PIN. The Master Password is still what is used to encrypt/decrypt your data, and as such will be required on occasion, but can be typed much less frequently with this setting enabled.

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Ben

I, too, am putting in a vote for allowing custom categories. Secure Notes is just too awkward for other categories.

  • Thanks for the vote! :)
