Wi-Fi sync with iPad and iPhone, only iPad is being found
Hello,
I want to sync my 1Password with my iPad and iPhone. Syncing works flawless on the iPad. I start 1Password on my PC, open the 1Password app, open the Wi-Fi sync panel and enter the password on my PC and syncing starts.
I also want to sync with my iPhone, but whatever I try, my PC is not being found with my iPhone. Both the iPad and iPhone are running on the latest iOS version.
What can I do to sync on both devices?
All the best,
DedSec85

I'm having exactly this issue as well.
- iPhone 5S - iOS 8.4.1
- iPad Mini - iOS 8.4.1
- Mac OS X - 10.10.5
The error that pops up when it finally times out is:
Sync Problem The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out"
If I click "More Info" it says:
Sync Problem Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=60 "The operation couldn't be completed. Operation timed out"
I've tried putting the iPad into airplane mode to see if that resolves it by avoiding some possible network conflict, but that doesn't help either.
I sync over Wifi and have been using this same setup for years. The syncing started having issues in the last couple weeks.

@corywright: This is a simple timeout. Something in your network environment is blocking the connection. If it was working previously and nothing has changed, it may be a simple glitch. Try restarting your devices — all involved in the sync, not just one — and router, as that may resolve the issue. If it's still not working, we'll have to look at firewall settings (believe it or not).
@DedSec85: Likewise, except I'll add that it may help to know some basic details about your setup if you're still having trouble: 1Password, OS, and device versions, etc. Please let me know how it turns out! :)

Hi @brenty ,
My iOS version is 8.4.1. I'm using Windows 10 and as far as I know 1Password is not being restricted by a firewall.
WiFi sync only works when I open the 1Password app on my iPad.I tried to put my iPad in Airplane mode and only open the 1Password app on my iPhone but then nothing happens. I erased all the data from the iPhone app and tried to sync all over again but my PC and iPhone won't find each other.
All the best,

WiFi sync only works when I open the 1Password app on my iPad.
@DedSec85: This seems to indicate that Wi-Fi Sync is working, and that it's either a configuration or hardware issue on your iPhone alone. Otherwise the iPad wouldn't be able to sync either.
Did you restart the PC and iPhone as well as I suggested? That's a good place to start. And if you're still having trouble, double-check those firewall settings. If Bonjour traffic is not getting through for any reason, your devices won't be able to communicate and Wi-Fi Sync simply will not work:
- Open "Windows Firewall" in Control Panel (or search in the Start menu)
- Select "Advanced Settings" on the left
- In the left pane, select "Inbound Rules" (you may see several 1Password entries)
- Select any with a status of "Block", select "Properties", "Allow the connection", and then click "OK"
- Repeat for all 1Password (or Bonjour) "Block" entries
- Follow the 1Password WiFi Sync instructions
Finally, make sure 1Password on your iPhone isn't paired with another computer (Settings > Sync > Sync Service). Dos that ring a bell? It can only be paired with one computer for Wi-Fi Sync. Let me know what you find! :)

Hi @brenty ,
I just checked everything. I'm not using Windows Firewall but the Norton Security Firewall. 1Password has access to the internet and is not being blocked.
I just tried to sync with my iPhone again and it worked. But to sync it with my iPad I have to click the 'Sync now' button.
Well it's working for now. I'll keep checking and if there's some error in the future I'll let you know. Thanks!

Same issue appeared again.
I was at work and got a new account. I saved this item in 1Password on my iPad. Back home, I started to sync the iPad with 1Password on my Windows PC. Syncing went well. However, after syncing I tried to sync my iPhone, and again, my iPhone was not being found by 1Password and my iPhone could not see my PC.I turned my iPhone off and on again but after that my PC still didn't find my iPhone and vica versa. I tried to restart the Bonjour service to see if that did any good, but it didn't help either.
Syncing with 2 iOS devices is really problematic.
With kind regards,

Syncing with the iPad goes very well over and over again. I don't know which technique is being used for the WiFi sync progress but it seems that 1Password only 'sees' 1 device and ignores the other one. Or is this a other issue? I'm using a iPhone 4S which is running on iOS 8.4.1.

Syncing with 2 iOS devices is really problematic.
@DedSec85: Well...it's using the exact same process with each. Or at least it should be. It's working on my iPhone 6 and iPad mini(2), so I wonder if there are other differences between our setups. It certainly seems nonsensical that it would fail to connect to one device but not the other. That to me indicates some issue with the particular device. 1Password doesn't care how many iOS devices you sync. :pirate:

Have you by any chance been trying to sync the iPhone with multiple computers via Wi-Fi? That is the only case where I have seen people have a similar problem. 1Password for iOS can only been be 'paired' with a single computer. Also, 1Password for Windows doesn't 'see' the other devices. It acts as a server, and other devices can receive the data when it syncs over the network. Have you tried disabling sync on the iPhone completely and re-ressing it up to make sure that the iPhone sees the sync server running on the PC in the first place? Go to 1Password Settings > Sync > Sync Service > Disable Sync, and then set it up again.
I'm really sorry you're still having this issue. If you've tried everything else I've suggested, then unfortunately we've essentially worked our way down to three possibilities, all rather obnoxious:
- 1Password for iOS is damaged on your iPhone in particular. Backup your data (if there is any there that you don't have on another device) and then reinstall the app.
- iOS is damaged on your iPhone...
- ..or the iPhone itself has a hardware issue — in either case it may be best to contact Apple.
We know that 1Password is working on the iPad and PC, and that traffic is getting through to sync using Bonjour, so the problem seems to be confined completely to something in the iPhone itself. Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
