Accidentally upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 8.4.1 today. 1password stopped working. Help?

1password is shaded out and says "waiting" on my iPhone. I downloaded the latest version of 1password from iTunes only to find it only works with iOS9. Where can I get a version of 1password that will work with my current iPhone 4s and iOS 8.4.1?a

    Hi @MaryS,

Distribution of 1Password for iOS (actually -- all iOS apps) is handled by Apple through the App Store. They do not have a specific spot to download older versions of apps, and in fact that normally isn't possible. The only way we're aware of where they will allow for a download of an older version of the app is:
    A) you already own the app
B ) your device will not run the current version

In that case the App Store should automagically figure that out and offer you the appropriate version at:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-password-manager/id568903335?mt=8&uo=4&at=10l4Hf&pt=11798&ct=site

In the case of the "waiting" message, if all other updates have finished and that is still appearing, your phone likely needs a reboot.

    Thanks!

    Ben

Agreed with all that you write, Ben. That's how I understood it too.

Now, the Agilebits site has a place where I supposedly can get the version of 1password for iOS8, but the link just takes me to iTunes. I thought maybe Agilebits could help me out getting me the right version.

I HAVE rebooted, but will do so again, just in case :) Thanks!

Unfortunately not. :( We simply haven't updated the download page to indicate that the latest version of 1Password for iOS is iOS 9 only.

Please let us know how it turns out!

    Rebooting didn't help.

That's unfortunate. It appears is no way for me to use 1password on my current iPhone 4s. It will not support iOS9. Surely there is another option than to get an updated phone. I'm disappointed. Thanks for trying, Ben.

  • Hi @MaryS,

iOS 9 has the same system requirements as iOS 8 -- and for me actually consumes less disk space. If your device will run iOS 8 it should run iOS 9.

    Thanks! :)
