Diceware feature suggestion: use language specific word lists
I really like the Diceware option introduced in 1PW6 and the suggestion to use this for security questions! Currently works great for services where customer support speaks English. For some local services it would be great if it was possible to use a native word list instead. Several Diceware word lists can be found here: http://world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html#languages
If this makes the App too large perhaps you can still only package an English word list, but use the new iOS9 On-Demand Resources feature to download additional languages?

Hi @XIII,
I like the idea of using the new iOS 9 feature - that tickles me. The only thing I would say is we didn't use the original Diceware list but instead a heavily expanded one. It was carefully created by our security expert and is over 2 times the size. This gives the entropy of any given passphrase a nice boost. So to ensure all languages receive equal treatment we would need to create lists for the others too. Now as I'm based in the UK my knowledge of other languages is shocking (as sadly is most of the population) so I don't know if there are any gotchas to be careful of when creating lists in other languages.
I really do like the idea though. Of course for it to be most useful in your given scenario the setting would have to be independent of the iOS language setting which I'm suspecting would be the first thought of the developer. I am correct in thinking you want the ability to swap between lists aren't I?
I see we do have an existing feature request to allow arbitrary lists uploaded by the user. I suppose at least with this option the user knows exactly the size of the list being used. Certainly there are possibilities

Actually I did not think of this yet, but yes, switching languages per entry in the vault would be great.

Thanks of the feedback! It's certainly something we can consider for a future version. :chuffed:

Hi,
cool that 1password6 six supports diceware,
Would be even more useful if you allow language based dicewarelist. Like http://world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html#languagescu

Hi,
Your diceware password in version 6 is great but it is not usefull for other languages. There are already good lists on http://world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html#languages. So it would be great if you implement it really quickly. I guess this wouldn't be a big problem at all.
You may have a setting option where users can enable different languages and then the signed list gets downloaded. So the app is not blow up by MB's you don't really use.
Greetings

thanks a lot for the suggestion. This is a great idea. I forwarded this to our developers and hope this gets implemented soon (I can't make any promises).

I've merged your two similar question-request threads into one, along with replies from penderworth and Winnie, so they're all kept together. Creating just one thread for each issue/question/request is preferred; thanks! :)

I had a hunch you might have forgotten about asking the first time. No worries, as Ben said.

Hi,
I'm also interested in wordlists in other languages. Especially in the iOS and OSX version. Is there any progress on this?

Ok, thanks :)

You can merge my suggestion (from september 2015, referring to the same list) as well:
