Latest Version (6.0) of 1P will not install on iOS 8.4.1 [iOS 9 is required for 1Password 6]
Get the error "This app was not installed as it requires a newer software version". I am not ready yet to upgrade to iOS9 - is this a bug or does 1P 6.0 require iOS9?
If so is there any way of getting an earlier version on to my iPhone?
1Password Version: 6.0
Extension Version: 4.4.3
OS Version: iOS 8.4.1

Similar problem. I upgraded my iPad to IOS9. Due to performance problems, I had to revert back to IOS8. Now, I can't install 1P 6 from the App Store since I'm no longer on IOS9, so how do I go back to 1p 5?

Hi guys,
1Password 6 for iOS requires iOS 9.
For those running an older version of iOS, open the App Store app on your iOS devices and go to the Purchases section (it's in the Updates tab on iPhone), and in there, search for 1Password and then you can install 1Password 5.

I know you guys are always such eager beavers, but requiring the newest version of any OS mere days after its release is, IMO rather bad form. Thanks for the reminder about the work around. I don't believe it's necessary, though, if the last compatible version (5) is already installed. And I suspect now we'll get that "cannot install" dialog with every iTunes sync in any case.

Hi @woodenbrain,
iOS is smart enough to not install incompatible updates and for majority of our existing users, this was a smooth process. Existing iOS 8 customers with 1Password already installed will not see 1Password 6 until they update to iOS 9, so this doesn't harm them.
The issue is when installing a new copy of 1Password, the App Store will not show the compatible version, customers must go to the Purchases section. This is how Apple wants it, despite the fact we want 1Password 5 to show up in the App Store, not just Purchases.

What's more of concern to many is that in releasing a version that is incompatible with an OS used by nearly 100% of users just a couple weeks ago, the last compatible version will ultimately break, or features that very well could have been made available to users who will stay on an older OS for some time will no longer have that benefit. I have 700+ apps in my iTunes library (not all installed on devices), and only 2 so far are incompatible with iOS 8.4.x. I'm not an iOS dev, but on the Mac it's surely possible to introduce libraries that target the newest OS version while weak linking them for backwards compatibility. In other words, the new features are made available for the cutting edge while the app remains usable without those features on the older OS(es).

I upgraded to iOS 9.0 on my iPad 2 (GSM) and iPhones 4S x2, but have had problems with the devices running to slow. I have 1Password on my iMac and PC Win 8, purchased version, and on the iPhones as mentioned.
I am now downgrading them all!
I have tried to follow the instructions above given by MikeT but the only "Purchased" Version it shows is the latest one. So I am stuck.
I am busy with the very slow procedure that is working so far!
Where can I find the version before the one needed for iOS 9 please?0 -
Well, I've been using 1Password on my 2 iMacs for a couple of months. I purchased my license from AgileBits. Been wanting to use it on my iPhone and searching everywhere (except App Store) for the app. Finally a friend told me to go to the App Store, and bingo there it is. Only thing is, it won't load on my iOS 8.4.1 phone. And since I never "purchased" v.5, it doesn't appear in my Purchases section. Will the previous version be made available anywhere?
I will upgrade to iOS9 eventually. I usually wait a couple of months for the bugs to clear out, and the lines to go down.

As I read this now. Are you not going to help "Older Paid-up Supporters" to sort out the problem. Is Apple going to rule the day?
I believe you are morally obliged to support a paid user, as I am, who happened to mistakenly upgrade, but found problems.
Surely you can provide a link or explain how I can get it sorted out.
I am sure there will be many people in the same situation, or I presume so.

P.S. You actually have a pop-up that says a version for lower versions is available.
It says you can "download the last compatible version."
So it looks as if back to LastPass we go?0 -
I upgraded all the mobile systems in our household to iOS 9. Two iPad 2s and two iPhone 4Ss. The new iOS 9 slowed everything down, so I went though the process of downgrading.
Having already spent many hours going through the process on two iPads 2 and two iPhones 4s, I then started the downgrade process. I now I find I cannot reload 1Password for iOS 8.4.1. as it is now only available for iOS 9. There is a pop-up that says it can be done, but it does not seem possible.
The irony of my situation that I had been running two password programmes, LastPass and 1Password in tandem as a test and a short while ago decided I must dump LastPass as I really liked 1Password as being most user friendly programme. Now I cannot use it. Security for me is very important, hence testing two systems over an extensive period on all of our systems.
I have it running on five Apple products in all, and one Windows 8 machine in my household.
I purchased originally direct from Agilebits to make it easier to run the system using WiFi sync for the PC that is used the least. The mobile devices that are used most are synced on Dropbox as is the iMac! As you know it just runs itself.
I have put a note on the Support Forum, but no reply or advice has been given. It seems there are others with the same problem with the Apple Mobile Devices and the new iOS 9.
You must please make a way for people like myself who have been trapped in this situation to be able to reload a running system. I thought the iTunes Restore would do it, but not so. Apple makes it very hard to downgrade and only wants you to buy more hardware from them!
I really feel let down and a bit desperate as things are at the moment.1Password Version: Not Provided

Hi folks,
All iOS apps (not just 1Password) are distributed exclusively by Apple, on their terms. In order to download an older version of the app, you must have the current version tied to your Apple ID. You can do this by downloading 1Password from iTunes on a computer using your Apple ID. Once you've done so you should be able to go into the Purchases section of the App Store (under Updates for iPhone).
If that does not work, please drop us an email to
support+forums@agilebits.com
with a link to this thread and any other pertinent details. Thanks!
Ben

Thanks for doing whatever you did!
I deleted the 1Password icon, thus the programme, and then reinstalled. I had done this before. After a slow download up came the "Open" icon, and everything works now. What a relief.

Thanks for tip regarding download of previous version. I had gotten it for OS X & Windows but not iOS before v9 arrived. Can't update to iOS 9 until it is jailbroken ;-) but just downloaded previous version on phone by purchasing on computer first!
Cheers, Paul
