I am currently using v3.7.2 on my iPhone iOS 8 and it prompts me to upgrade to v5 for free and I need to know will my current database of passwords be preserved in the new version 5, it's a large amount of data that I don't want to have it lost in the new version.

    Hi @pa3rca

I am glad you are thinking about upgrading to v5. If you have iOS 9 installed on your device you could even upgrade to 1Password 6 which is out for almost a week now.

To answer your question: yes, all your passwords will be moved over to v5. However I am always recommending doing a backup of all your data before upgrading. Here are the steps I recommend for moving to v5:

    • On the old 1Password 3 for iOS, do a backup of the data to your computer. This will create a .1ptbackup file, which can only be restored to 1Password 3 for iOS.

    • Close 1Password 3 for iOS from the multitasking view. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5137

    • Download 1Password 5 to your device.
    • Launch 1Password 5 for iOS and choose the "Sync existing Vault" > "Import from Version 3" option.
    • Follow the instructions on screen from there.
