Are there plans to support Firefox on iOS?

I have two questions.

After a cursory read through documentation, I'm actually wondering if 1Password can be used with any mobile browser besides the built-in 1Browser. 1) Can 1Password be used with external browsers, or are users locked into the new 1Browser? Further, if users can use 1Password with external browsers, 2) are there plans to support the upcoming version of Firefox for iOS?

  • Hi @danemacmillan,

1Password for iOS can be used with Safari (instructions), and also with Chrome for iOS (because they have built support for 1Password into their browser). I'm not familiar with Mozilla's offering on iOS for Firefox, but it may be possible for them to integrate 1Password (as mentioned, Chrome has).

    Thanks!

I researched this after you mentioned the browser vendors build support into their browsers, and found the official bugzilla issue and the PR on GitHub, so it's safe to say 1Password will be supported by Firefox for iOS out of the box, like Chrome and Safari. It will be available in version 1.1, so sooner than later. It has not been merged in yet.

  • Excellent news! I myself recently switched from Chrome to Firefox as my daily driver on Mac/Windows, so it'll be nice to have that option on iOS as well.

    Thanks for letting us know!
