Well. I did not change my Master Password. All the geniuses in the Genius bar in The Hague Apple store could not help..
All my info is in it.
I do not have a Mac, so no sync problems. Nobody seems to be able to help. BUT
I just tried to switch keyboards. It DOES work - HURRAY!!- when I click on the ENGLISH keyboard
Question: do I have to switch every singel time to tis keyboard? I normally use DUTCH keyboard, also have french,
I am sooo relieved!!

well, obviously, because then it all at once responded again!
I KNEW I knew my master password very well. Did not change it - and did not think of this possibility before.Everybody in the apple store is also very relieved.
But now: can I continue using the password on the dutch keyboard?
What is the difference? Why did it not work on the dutch??we are very curious!
and I am extremely happy to have access again !!!

Probably not.

What I suspect is happening here is that although you may have characters that look identical on the Dutch and English keyboards the encoding that gets sent to the system when you tap on those characters is actually different.
I know we've seen this difficulty before with non-ASCII characters being used in Master Passwords. Admittedly I don't recall folks reporting a difference when using keyboards of a different language, if using the same character set, but that would be my suspicion.
Thanks!

Could you not change your Master Password but use the Dutch keyboard to set it. You might even be able to use the same password if the Dutch encoding is different.

You could, yes, @tonydow. Our recommendation to not use non-ASCII characters would stand though.
I'd highly recommend making a backup before making any changes:
