lost 1Password on iPhone

somehow today my 1password app on my iPhone disappeared. I've been using the app for 6-7 years and feel like my life is lost. The good news is i have a version on my iPad even though it's dated (v3.7.2). A couple of questions:

  • not sure why i was unsuccessful grabbing my iTunes backup for my iPhone app. When i synced I ended up with a brand new 1password v3.7.2 but no passwords. i noticed on my Mac i have a backup from June 2014. Better than nothing but no idea how to leverage
  • second option would be to get my iPad version of 1Password data back on my iPhone. i used iCloud on my iPad unlike my iPhone. this would at least save me some time from having to start all over again.

1Password Version: 3.7.2
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: iOS 8.4
Sync Type: itunes

  • Hi @rdamster,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. I'm very sorry to hear about the trouble! By default your 1Password data is only stored on the device that it was created on, and with iOS removing an app also removes the data on the device for that app.

You can read about how to backup and restore 1Password 3 for iOS here:
    https://help.agilebits.com/1Password_iPad/backup.html

Please note however that 1Password 3 for iOS has been retired for almost 3 years now. Once you get squared away you'll want to upgrade to 1Password 6 for iOS on iOS 9. iOS 9 has the same system requirements as iOS 8, so all devices running iOS 8 can run iOS 9.

Once you get to that point you can find instructions on upgrading from v3 to v6 here:
    https://support.1password.com/upgrade-ios/#1password-3-7-1-or-earlier

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    Thanks!

    Ben
