    Hi, my husband set me up with 1password and he was the administrator. He passed away. My program keeps quitting unexpectedly. I have all of my passwords stored here. I believe I may be missing important software updates (and perhaps payments too!) Is there a way for me to take over the administrative rights without loosing all of my passwords? Thanks, Pam

    @pam_maher: I hope you don't mind, but I split you off into a separate discussion so we can work with you on your particular issues, rather than resurrecting someone else's old discussion.

    It is not possible to unlock 1Password without the Master Password. If it were, 1Password wouldn't be very secure at all, and of course that's its whole purpose.

    Additionally, AgileBits has neither your 1Password data nor the Master Password used to secure it, so this isn't something we can 'reset' for you to help directly. However, please try the tips in this guide as they may help you gain access again, especially if your husband had told you the Master Password at some point or left some clue:

    If you're not able to access the login information for accounts, you will need to go through the password reset process for them unfortunately.

    But if you tell me the OS, 1Password, and device versions you're using, I'll be happy to advise you when it comes to updating, etc.

    I can't tell you how sorry I am to hear of your loss, and I hope that you're able to gain access. While we cannot give you the Master Password since we don't have it, or reset it for you since the vault is encrypted using it, if there is any other way we can assist you with 1Password please let us know!
