Master password problem
I tried to open 1password today and I was directly asked to put my master password, and I did, but I got the message that it's wrong, I kept trying for more than 30 minutes every possible combination I can possibly think of, then I started to doubt my self.
I took another chance and tried to log in from the extension option from the chrome browser and I was asked for the password again , I wrote the first one I tried in the application and the app unlocked.
I wonder what was that ?! I was about to delete the app and loose all my data for such [humbug], I need to know what was the issue? It the application unreliable, any bug crawling around. Many threads complaining about the master password with no solution!!!!

Now, concerning your Master Password issue: your 1Password data is encrypted using your Master Password. It's simply cryptography. And AgileBits has neither your 1Password data nor the Master Password used to secure it, so this isn't something we can 'reset' for you or anyone else. Like a phone number or postal address, if it’s not correct it doesn’t reach who it’s intended for — or in the case of the Master Password, 1Password doesn’t unlock as intended. There is no backdoor. 1Password is as secure as the Master Password you choose, but this also means that unless it is entered correctly even you will not be able to unlock it.
I'm glad to hear that you were able to gain access to your vault, because frankly it is by design that no one can without the correct Master Password. If this were not the case, 1Password wouldn't be very secure at all.
It isn't clear to me exactly where all of this transpired, since you're posting in the iOS category but it sounds like you're referring to the 1Password Chrome extension on a computer. If you're still having any trouble at all, be sure to let me know in detail the OS, 1Password, browser, and extension versions you're using, and the exact steps you're taking so we can figure out the best plan of action. @brenty I'm sorry about my language, but I was genuinely seconds away from deleting the application, and loosing everything I saved, and I don't even remember half of what I saved there.
What happened is that I tried opening the application with the master password and it didn't work, then i opened my chrome browser on iOS and tried to login into my hotmail account, I used the 1password extension, and put my master password and it opened.0 -
@Ltaha: Understood. No apology necessary. I only bring it up because editing without mentioning it or explaining why probably won't help avoid the same thing happening in the future.
I certainly don't begrudge you some cursing into the darkness at a time like this. We've all been there! We just need to keep it clean on the site for others who might not be interested in the raving you and I might do when things go awry. ;)
Anyway, I guess my concern with your 1Password issue is this: are you able to open and unlock the main 1Password app now, or only the extension? So long as you don't delete anything I suspect we can figure out what's going on and get it sorted out for you! And if you can tell me the versions you're using that will give us a good starting point! :chuffed:
