Can't wifi sync iPhone to Mac after iOS 9 upgrade

I have an iPhone 5s running iOS 9.0.2 and a Mac mini (Late 14) running OS X Yosemite (10.10.5). This had been working fine until I upgraded the iPhone from iOS 8 to iOS 9. Now I get there error:

Sync Problem
Please unlock 1Password on your Mac

Sync Problem
Error
Domain=com.agilebits.onepassword.ErrorDomain
Code=7014 "Please unlock 1Password on your Mac"
Userinfo={NSLocalizedDescription=Please unlock 1Password on your Mac}

Well, I think that's what it first said - it's certainly what it says now after I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 1Password on the iPhone in the hope that would correct the problem.

Note - this is a wifi sync I'm attempting

    @jim_grundy: This may sound like a silly question, but I don't want to make any assumptions: Is 1Password unlocked on your Mac? It can't sync your data if it isn't.

    Also, which version of 1Password for Mac are you using? If 1Password is open, unlocked, and you're using version 4 or 5, then so far so good. That that's the case, please try the following:

    1. In 1Password for iOS, go to Settings > Sync > Sync Service
    2. Disable Sync
    3. In 1Password for Mac, go to Preferences > Wi-Fi Server
    4. Right-click the 'secret' show there and Generate New Secret
    5. Follow the Wi-Fi Sync guide to set it up from scratch

    Please let me know how it turns out! :)

    Hi. Thanks for the help, but no joy yet I'm afraid.

    So... yes, I do have 1Password unlocked on the Mac.

    I'm using 1Password 5 on the Mac.

    In a fit of desperation I had earlier uninstalled and reinstalled 1Password on my iPhone, so I guess that takes care of the first couple of steps you sent me in a different way ... now I'm at the point of trying to do the initial sync after installation.

    I generated a fresh secret as you described and followed the instructions for a fresh sync. And, the behavior did change, but not in a good way. Now I get "Sync Problem. Incorrect Secret. Please make sure it matches the secret shown on the computer.".

    At this point you would reasonably ask "does it match the secret on the computer", and, "yes, it does". I tried regenerating and entering a few different secrets - trying each a couple of times and double checking each time. Nothing doing.

    Thanks for your help so far.

    Jim

    Joy at last. Had to reboot the Mac. 1Password on the Mac then crashed (report sent), but then stayed up. 1Password on the phone then crashed (report) sent ... but then they synced. Still the crashes give one pause ... I'm trusting this code with important secrets.

    @jim_grundy: Sorry you're still having trouble!

    First, make sure you're entering the 'secret' exactly, including any spaces between 'words'. For example, fun han e grat h.

    Next, are you certain you don't have multiple copies of 1Password running Wi-Fi Sync servers on your network — either on the same computer or different ones?

    Either would explain why the 'secret' isn't being accepted.

    If you're still having trouble, the best thing to do will be to generate a diagnostic report and send it to support+forums@agilebits.com so we can look at the logs to determine exactly what is happening:

    Just be sure to include a link to this forum thread and your username in the email so we can 'connect the dots'. We will get to the bottom of this! :)
