new iPad not finding my current 1password data on cloud it is finding much older file

I have multiple Apple devices: three macs, an iPhone and a iPad mini. Each of them has always worked well with 1Password until I bought my new iPad mini two weeks ago. It is not cooperating. Now, all the other devices works but the mini does not synch with my master password file. It is finding a password data base file ( 1Password ) on iCloud but it is a much older 1Password file. I have deleted 1Password several times on the mini and downloaded the newer Apple Store version. That does not work. It keeps coming back to the older version.
What would you suggest? I have all current software on all devices.
I was thinking of spinning out the current data base and saving it on multiple platforms and then deleting my master password file on all my devices and then reloading it into each of them through a data transfer. Seems severe. Before I do that do you have any ideas?
Thanks
Tom Barry

  • Hi Tom ( @TMB003 ),

Thanks for taking the time to write in! Sorry to hear about the trouble with iCloud sync. I think you are probably on the right track, but here is what I'd suggest instead, assuming you have one device that has all of the latest changes on it:

    1) Backup the 1Password data on the device that has the latest info ( instructions: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/ ). We'll call this the 'master device.' It wouldn't hurt to do this on each device, but be sure to note which file is the 'master.'
    2) Turn OFF iCloud syncing within 1Password on all but the master device
    3) Use the 1Password > Settings > Advanced > Erase iCloud data option from the master device
    4) Turn iCloud sync off on the master device, and reboot it
    5) Turn iCloud sync back on for the master device ONLY, and wait ~20 minutes
    6) Uninstall 1Password from all non-master devices and reinstall it
    7) When you launch 1Password on the non-master devices select that you are an existing user, and select the iCloud sync option

Hopefully that'll force iCloud back into a usable state for you.

Please let us know how it turns out. If you get hung up anywhere please let us know which step you were on, what you did, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead.

    Thanks!

    Ben
