1Password Dropbox setup

My issue maybe only slightly different but I have worked for hours on it and am ready to put Post-Its with passwords along the edge of the computer.
I have updated iPhone and iPad with the latest iOS. No problem. I was very hesitant to upgrade to El Capitan on the Mac, but eventually did and that is when the problem started. Lockbox was not compatible. Downloaded newest version that appeared to be ok, but then I tried add new login & passwords in 1Password and found that I needed to update. Download, installed, and now Master Password is not recognized and I believe the reason was that I was on a longterm project and working only with my iPad and iPhone, so the new is obviously not recognized and the many many guesses at the old password failed.
Without going into all the steps, I deleted Dropbox (I thought) and 1Password, and installed the newest versions.
I can sync everything accept 1Password. I can open 1PasswordAnywhere and see my information BUT I can't reach those screens that ask if I want to sync to a new vault. ALSO I can't delete the newst Dropbox because it is open somewhere - no clue where that might be, but an early dialogue box mentioned something about extensions.Need help. Post-Its in hand.
Thanks

@LarryP2003: I hope you don't mind, but I've split you off into a separate discussion to avoid confusion since it doesn't sound like you're having issues with a white screen during Dropbox setup on iOS. But of course if I've misunderstood that, be sure to let me know.
I was very hesitant to upgrade to El Capitan on the Mac, but eventually did and that is when the problem started. Lockbox was not compatible.
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. Can you elaborate on the specific problem you're having? The more detailed, the better we'll be able to help.
For instance, fro your description it sounds like you may not be having any trouble on your iOS devices, but rather you're having an issue on your Mac. Is that correct?
Without going into all the steps, I deleted Dropbox (I thought) and 1Password, and installed the newest versions.
Unfortunately without some basic information it's hard to say what might be going wrong and how we might right it! Please tell me the OS, 1Password, and device versions you're using, the exact steps you're taking, and what is (or is not) happening the way you expect so we can figure out the best plan of action.

The more information you can give, the better. For instance, do you have your 1Password vault on another device already? Are you just trying to sync this to your Mac?
I can open 1PasswordAnywhere and see my information BUT I can't reach those screens that ask if I want to sync to a new vault.
This is good to know! But to be clear, 1PasswordAnywhere is just a webpage. You won't be able to access any settings from there. Those are in the actual 1Password app.
ALSO I can't delete the newst Dropbox because it is open somewhere - no clue where that might be, but an early dialogue box mentioned something about extensions.
I'm not sure what you're trying to delete here and why. Are you referring to the Dropbox app? Your vault in Dropbox? It sounds like we're confusing a lot separate issues here, so the more specifics you can provide the better we'll be able to help. Thanks in advance! :)

- I apologize for this and thanks for starting a new thread. Also note that I made many attempts each step of the way and did research on a number of problems (like how to_ totally_ Dropbox). So there

- When upgrading to El Capitan the system said my current version of Dropbox was incompatible so the Dropbox folders were automatically isolated. After updating Dropbox, there was no issue. After an upgrade, I usually go thru all my programs to see if there is anything unexpected. This is when the issue with 1Password first was noticed.
- Your are correct that I am not having a problem with iOS.
Without going into all the steps, I deleted Dropbox (I thought) and 1Password, and installed the newest versions.

- Some commenters noted that the mere existence of Dropbox created a problem so it was deleted, along with all the files. The totally deletion of Dropbox took several tries and a bit of research since it entailed more than a drag and drop in trash.
- I am currently running OS 10.11 on iMac (mid 2011), 1Password 5 on iMac iOS devices are fine.
- I did drag and trash the new download of 1Password. ** I believe this is the where the problem is: there seems to be a file somewhere that 1Password 5 sees that tells it to ask for the Master Password.** I was expecting 'Welcome to 1Password", etc. but never got one not matter what I tried.

Since this was suppose to be 'fresh' install, I was expecting "Welcome to 1Password", and asking for my basic information like email address, but even now with the new 1Password download and no Dropbox, it was asking for Master Password. No questions about pointing to a new vault, nothing about iCloud or Dropbox - just Master Password.
One comment I read said that while everything syncs automatically, the Master Password does not. Each device must be changed manually. I was on a long term project and did not have access to the Mac

Noted.
_I can't delete the newst Dropbox because it is open somewhere - no clue where that might be, but an early dialogue box mentioned something about extensions.

As stated earlier, someone in the forum noted that if there is Dropbox folder with a 1Password folder in it, the app assumes there is a vault to be connected - so I deleted everything for the fresh start.
If I may, a summary of converging matters:
1. iOS devices were given new Master Passwords but Mac was not and old one was forgotten.
2. Updated iOS to 1Password 5
3. Updated to El Capitan
4. Could not and still cannot completely delete old version (?) of 1Password.As it stands now, I have deleted 1Password on the Mac the best I can but most likely have not completely. The latest version of Dropbox is installed and functioning properly.
Experience has shown me that I am almost certainly the problem so I am hoping you can help.
Thanks
PS Not related but perhaps illustrating a problem with me, I offer an example: see the italics that are to show the original comments? The first italic was menu driven, the second via keyboard. No problem. The odd looking '_Downloaded' is suppose to be a menu italic as well but it isn't. A little further down the odd looking '__I can' is from the italic menu button and finally '_I can't' is from the menu button with my deleting one of the 2 underscores. I am not trying to be an ass but I am willing to risk it since you took a chance to work with me and I wanted to point what might be a very very small matter right now.

@LarryP2003: No apology necessary! I only mentioned it because otherwise you might wonder what had happened and why (and rightly so!) ;)
And I'm sorry about the confusion with the forum layout. We use Markdown, which converts words or phrases with an underscore at each end into italics (and asterisks for bold, etc.) The toolbar can be used to format as well, and keyboard shortcuts
⌘ I
and⌘ B
respectively.I did drag and trash the new download of 1Password. ** I believe this is the where the problem is: there seems to be a file somewhere that 1Password 5 sees that tells it to ask for the Master Password.** I was expecting 'Welcome to 1Password", etc. but never got one not matter what I tried.
Ah! Thanks for clarifying! It sounds like you just want to start over on the Mac and sync your 1Password data back, since you have it on the iOS devices. If that's the case, please check our this guide in our knowledgebase:
Starting over with an empty vault
But you can also use the Data Reset Utility for 1Password 5 to automate the process. Before we go too far, you should back up your existing data by selecting File > Backup from the menu bar (unless you absolutely don't need or want it). Then follow these steps to start over with a new vault:
- Download the Data Reset Utility for 1Password 5
- Double-click the ZIP file to decompress it (if your browser didn't do that for you automatically)
- Control-click on the tool and select "Open" from the shortcut menu
- Follow the prompts, and 1Password should give you the chance to start with a new vault
Please let me know how it turns out. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
