how to install 1Password on ios8, itunes store only offers 1password version 6 - wont work on ios8

Iphone 4s with ios8, but itunes store only downloads 1password version 6 which requires ios9. So how can I get 1password on an ios8 device?

Thanks for taking the time to write in.

To use 1Password 6 for iOS you'd need to upgrade to iOS 9. iOS 9 has the same system requirements as iOS 8 so all devices that are capable of running iOS 8 can run iOS 9.

If, like me, you cannot upgrade to iOS 9 yet, or in the future it won't let you download a compatible version it is possible to do so.

If you already downloaded 1Password for iOS and it shows up in "Updates -> Purchased" it will download the most recent version compatible with your device. For example I'm on iOS 8.1 and I was able to get 1Password 5.4.3.

If you have not downloaded 1Password for iOS before it will refuse to download stating you need the latest version. To work around this, download 1Password for iOS from iTunes on your Mac or Windows computer linked to the same iTunes account. This will add 1Password to your purchase list. From there you will be able to download 1Password directly from the device and it will download the most compatible version for that device.

Now keep in mind that Agilebits will not support previous versions of their app. If you have a problem their answer is going to be update to the latest version. For me having something is better than nothing.

Thanks for for adding that, @Luke_S. From a customer service perspective we will do our best to help out folks still using older versions, but our developers cannot update previous versions any further so anything that would need to change in code is frozen at this point.
