Is iCloud safe for my backup?

I have been backing up via wifi between my macbook and my iPhone because I thought that was the safest method. However I keep my iphone and macbook in the same bag. I could loose both items at once and would not have a backup.
**What is the real risk of placing my 1Password information on iCloud? My login to 1Password is not used for anything else and I dont think anyone could figure it out. **If multiple tries are attempted at my password would they be locked out?
I'm not real computer savvy, but I can usually figure things out.
