I have 1Password for Windows 10, (1 PW4;) Mac (1PW5. .5.4.1;) Using Yosemite OS x and IOS v9; 6.0.2 all current updated. My problem is the IOS (two iPads). When I set the Auto Lock, for any time frame, I am still required to enter the Master Password. The same holds true when using 1PW in the Safari, (on the iPad) The Auto Lock works as it should on the Windows and Mac computers. I have "Lock on Exit' turned off, and I do not use the Pin Code. Is this a known problem? and is there a fix?

    Hello @MTKrugers,

I couldn't replicate this, even after turning off iOS passcode completely so I'm wondering if iOS is terminating 1Password for iOS on a regular basis.

Can you try something for me please and see if it makes any difference.

Using iOS's multitasking window (double tap of the home button can you terminate all iOS apps that are currently listed. Can you then just for good measure restart the iOS device.

Does that have any impact at all on the Auto-Lock timer being correctly observed?

Closed out all app's and restarted ipad. Time delay still not working, on neither ipad. Purchase 1PW in February, guess I should have mentioned it has never worked. I just dealt with it, 1PW is on a ipad mini MD543LL/A and ipad mini Retina MF084LL/A

  • Good evening @MTKrugers, thanks for taking the time to write in. The Auto Lock functionality works best when used in conjunction with the PIN code feature. The reason for this is that when the PIN code setting is enabled, your Master Password is stored in the system keychain and used to decrypt your 1Password information once you put in your PIN code.

Similarly, when 1Password is killed in the background by the OS, when relaunching it we check if your auto lock timeout has expired yet. If it has not we grab the Master Password from the keychain and use it to decrypt your data automatically.

Since you aren't using the PIN code feature we don't store your Master Password in the system keychain, and therefore have nothing which with to decrypt your data when you launch 1Password before your auto lock timeout has occurred.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

Ah Ha, It worked, maybe a suggestion to the developers would be to have the time settings on the the Auto-Lock be locked or grayed out unless or until the PIN Code is turned on, then there would be no expectation it will work without the PIN Code.

    Thanks for the info

  • Hi @MTKrugers ,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll file a request with the developers.

    Regards,
    Kevin
