I have 2 questions.

First, can I have 1Password on my iPad Air2 ask me if I want to save the information for a new login, like it does on my Mac Mini?

Second, I just created, manually, a new login, on the iPad, and when I select it it opens the window properly but will not do the autofill. All the other logins I have do autofill properly. What do I need to do?

  • Hi @JJCairns ,

1Password can not ask you to save a login when logging into a site on Safari on iOS. The capability is not present in iOS for us to add that feature.

If it does not autofill, it may be due to the web site address not matching properly. We've noticed that sometimes web sites will forward the user to a mobile version with a different address. To fix this, go to the site, copy the URL from the address bar, go back to 1Password, edit the login item, and make another URL field and paste it in. After that, try to go to the site and it should autofill.

If not, please reply and we can investigate further.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

Did not help. I actually had done that before but tried it again. Still no autofill.

    Any onther ideas?

  • Good morning @JJCairns. Another thing you could try is creating the login on your iPad using the 1Password Extension. You can read about the 1Password extension here: https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/extension.html

Specifically, you can find instructions on how to use it to save new logins here: https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/create-new-login-safari.html

Give that a try and see if the login you create using the extension will properly auto-fill for you. Just one clarification here, where are you expecting that the auto-fill will take place? Within 1Browser, or in Safari? If it is within 1Browser then we can certainly auto-fill that. However, if it's in Safari you will need to use the 1Password Extension to fill the login information.

Hope this helps, but please don't hesitate to reach out if it does not.

Not sure what is up. I have a keyboard case for my iPad, so I turned it off to use the iPad's keyboard. I followed the directions, but the "Done" button shown does not show up. That tutorial shows an iPhone. Is there maybe a difference.

Getting really frustrated right now. I have the extension activated, use it all the time, and all my other passwords autofill.

One thing, I never use the internal password save, it comes up every time I log into something. This time when I was creating this sties password I selected the save option. Could that be what is causing the problem, and if so how do I remove it?

  • Hi @JJCairns ,

On the iPad, you will not see the "Done" button, but you should see a key in the lower right corner of the on screen keyboard to dismiss it. Then you should be able to access the Action button to bring up the extension.

The iOS password save shouldn't interfere, but you can turn it off in the Settings App under Safari -> AutoFill. There you can turn off Contact Info, Names and Passwords, and Credit Cards.

Please reply if you need further assistance. We'll be more than happy to help.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

I did not realize the "Done" button was just to get the keyboard down. Sirry,

I followed the tutorial agan. It brings up the correct address, but it does not fill the user name and password that I have typed in.

Any ideas, or is this site just not going to let me use 1Password/

So, I take it that since no one replied to my last post, that I cannot set this site up.

  • Hi @JJCairns,

I'm sorry for the delayed reply. Could you please tell me the URL to the login page that you are having trouble filling?

    Ben

    Hi @JJCairns,

I think I see the issue with this particular site. We do struggle with IFrames, a way of loading a page inside a page. This works fine on a Mac but for reasons I don't understand in detail why we struggle in iOS but we do.

So a trick I find can sometimes work is to look at the source and see if the page being loaded into the IFrame can be potentially loaded directly. Now this doesn't always work, it varies from site to site.

The first thing I would try is loading the following URL, https://www.smdservers.net/SLWebSiteTemplate_V2/login.aspx?sCorpCode=O1peBYg8PGEplusplusOm6GJ2prQ==&sLocationCode=qmNXYwgOBfuKuALtIl4tkQ==&1=1 and see if you can log in at all - totally ignore 1Password for iOS. If you can log in using that URL then I believe that URL will work with 1Password for iOS as we're bypassing the IFrame issue. As I say, it isn't guaranteed to work if the main page is doing something the supporting page needs but it has worked in a number of instances so worth trying  Let us know how you get along.

OK, that works if I am in Safari and use the extension.

It does not work from within 1Password, error says to many HTTP redirects.

Since I have a bookmake page for my bill and use the extension, this works for me.

    Thanks

Sorry it wasn't a bit more smoother @JJCairns but at least you have an acceptable working solution  If you have any other problematic sites please let us know!
