  • Hi @Karit1 ,

First, do not delete 3.8.2 from your phone. Then download the latest version (6.0.2) from the App Store. After it has downloaded, launch the old version and it will prompt you to upgrade your data. Follow the prompts and you should be all set.

If you do not have the old version (3.8.2) on your phone anymore, please let us know.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

I do not have it on phone. I & it are new

  • Hi @Karit1,

Thanks. You can download the latest version of 1Password for iOS here:

    https://agilebits.com/downloads

In order to get your data into the new version you would need access to the old version. You can find instructions here:

    https://support.1password.com/upgrade-ios/#1password-3-7-1-or-earlier

If you do not have access to the old version anymore but you have your data in 1Password for Mac or 1Password for Windows you can instead sync your data over from there:

    https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/syncing.html

    Thanks!

have done the download to my iPhone, but when I try to use the Wi-Fi Sync I get a pane that says to go to the 1Pass on my mac (File>Wi-Fi Sync)> I don't have that path. What now?

  • @Karit1,

What version of 1Password for Mac do you have installed?

I have 3.8.22 and read on blog to purchase 1Pass 5. Did. Won't install on Mac 10.9.5.

Any comments on my last post

  • @Karit1,

1Password 6 for iOS can sync over WiFi to either 1Password 4 for Mac or 1Password 5 for Mac. If you are unable to upgrade to the latest version of OS X, so that you can run 1Password 5 for Mac, your license for 1Password 5 for Mac entitles you to 1Password 4 for Mac as well. You can download that here:

    https://agilebits.com/downloads#legacy_versions

    Thanks!

Finally got mac v10.11.1, got iPass 5 installed, still can't get it to sync w/ios6 on phone, getting really frustrated. what next?

  • Thanks, @Karit1. Sorry to hear you are still having trouble. Could you please let me know what is happening at this point when you follow the sync instructions? At which step are you having trouble? Is there an error message?

    Please let us know.

OK. Go to iPhone 6s, open 1Pass-6, get "Welcome" window "Create Vault", select "Sync existing Vault", get window "Syncing", select "Sync using Wi-Fi", get window "Wi-Fi Sync", Refresh List, get nothing, follow inst. open 1Pass on mac, elect "Window" then Wi-Fi Sync, get Wi-Fi Server window w/box w/code and "Primary"(box checked) that I can't access. Can go no further. What next?

@Karit1: So far so good, but something is blocking communications between the two devices. And if they can't see each other, they won't be able to transmit data. Do you have firewall/proxy/security settings that may be interfering?

I checked and comm is allowed from 1 Pass. I also turned it off with the same results. I'll get another cable and see what happens.

Photos opens when I connect. What would cause the inability to sync?

  • Hi @Karit1,

Another cable? There shouldn't be any cables involved. Both the Mac and the iOS device need to be connected to the same wireless network.

    Thanks.

I plug my phone into the USB port. Should I not? Both devices are on the same network & open.

  • @Karit1,

No cables are required for WiFi sync. As a troubleshooting step could you please try connecting the devices to an Ad Hoc WiFi network? This will rule your home network either in or out as the cause of the difficulty:

    https://support.1password.com/wifi-adhoc/mac.html

If the sync works over an Ad Hoc network then there is a configuration issue with your network that is preventing the devices from communicating. If it still does not, then the configuration issue is either with the Mac or the iOS device itself. Once we know that, we can go from there.

    Thanks!

OK. I'm at a college library using their wifi. Still unable to get any farther than the wifi server box. Still no computer on list. Next?

  • @Karit1,

You didn't actually mention if using an Ad Hoc network works or not?

If not, I'd like to ask you to create some Diagnostics Reports, one from each of your devices.

    —Mac—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/mac.html

    —iOS—
    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

@Karit1: Indeed. Definitely try a direct, ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection between your devices. A managed network at an educational institution will probably be filtering or outright blocking multicast/broadcast traffic such as Bonjour, which Wi-Fi Sync depends on.

Which step do you run into trouble with when following this guide, @Karit1?

TA DA!! Using the guide you sent worked. Now I have lots of reading to do both for the iPhone & 1 Pass. Thanks for the help & patience.

  • Glad to hear syncing via the Ad Hoc network is working @Karit1. This most likely means that broadcast traffic (such as Bonjour, upon which 1Password relies) is blocked on the network(s) you were attempting to sync over previously.

You can of course continue using an Ad Hoc network if that works for you, but if this is happening with your home network that will likely be a bit of an inconvenience, and it may be worth investigating why such traffic is being blocked. There may be settings on your router/WiFi access point that are relevant.

    Thanks!

Thanks again,I'm headed for the Apple Store to see what's up. Can I delete the old version of 1Pass from my apps or should I leave it in the folder, not running, now that I have my phone synced.

@Karit1: Any time! If you've got all of your data safely in the new app (and it sounds like you do), you can simply drag the old version to the Trash. Cheers! :)
