How do two phones with two apple ids share the same vault?

My husband has 1password on his phone. I uploaded the app onto my phone too. I want to "sync" to his vault. If we use icloud how does that work since my phone iclould is different from his. Also, he doesn't want drop box as our dropbox is viewed by others. So what have we left to share one 1password between 2 phones with 2 apple ids and HOW do we set it up?

Apple does not allow synchronisation of data between different Apple IDs, sorry. You can safely use Dropbox because your 1Password vault is end-to-end encrypted. To quote from part of the article to which I've linked:

End-to-end encryption means that data is encrypted on your devices with keys generated on your devices and protected by your Master Password. It is not decrypted until it safely reaches it’s destination on your other device(s). Because of this, the confidentiality of your data does not depend on the security of the communication channel or service you use to sync or store your data.

@FilomenaLococo Stephen is correct. You cannot sync between two different Apple IDs using iCloud. You will have to use Dropbox.

As Stephen mentioned, the 1Password data file in Dropbox is encrypted. Even if someone got ahold of it, they couldn't do anything with it without your Master Password. Here is more on cloud security.

You can setup Dropbox syncing per these instructions.
