One User on one computer isn't syncing

We have 1Password running on 3 Macs 2 iPhones and 2 iPads. I had originally set it up to sync through Dropbox but bought a new Apple copy and switched to iCloud. 1Password functions and syncs properly in all cases except for one user on one computer. Apparently the old dropbox connection wasn't deleted and there was another dropbox sync'd vault connected to it. I deleted the vault, switched syncing to iCloud, but it didn't seem to fully take effect. Some things seem to sync properly, some don't. Accounts don't open automatically even when the sync appears to have gone through correctly. The checkbox to 'Automatically submit logins after filling' is selected.

It seems as though deleting 1Password from that one account and reinstalling it might be a way to fix it, I tried but I don't think it really reinstalled. Is there a way to completely reset 1Password from that one User (without effecting all the others), then re-sync to get it to work properly?

Ideas?

If I had your trouble on that computer, and if I were satisfied that all my data were syncing properly with iCloud from the other devices, I would indeed start fresh on that oddly behaving machine. Follow the directions on this page: How do I start over with an empty vault?

Since you haven't said whether that machine has had the AgileBits web store version on it, as well as the Mac App Store version, be sure to note that there are directions for fully removing both versions, which differ slightly in where you will look for stuff to delete. Follow the appropriate section, or follow both of them if both versions were ever on that Mac.After all that, download a fresh copy of the application and follow the directions you'll get after checking the option that says you are a previous user. You'll then point to your current iCloud sync location.

  • Hey @GNMix! The best way to fix this would indeed be to start over, as hawkmoth mentioned. The guide he linked to is everything you need to start over. You'll only need to do it on the device that's having trouble. Once you start over, simply set up the device with iCloud and you should be all set. Let us know how it goes!

Thank you both. Makes sense and thank you for the link. I'll give it a try and report back.

  • @GNMix Sounds great! :+1:

It turned out to be a secondary vault problem. But it may also have had something to do with the fresh start you recommended. I had deleted the secondary vault for one user but not the other. When I deleted it and checked the Preferences, the remaining primary vault was no longer set up to sync. I selected iCloud and voila, it and every other device sync'd properly. Thanks very much for your help.

  • @GNMix Aha, well I'm so glad you got everything up and running properly again. If you need anything else, we're here for you. :) Have a wonderful day.
