Can't get autosave to work on ANY sites ;-(

OS X El Capitan, 10.11.1, using FireFox, Chrome or Safari, can't get autosave new logins or update existing logins to work on ANY site. The preference setting is appropriately checked. Tried extensis.com, speedperks.com, denon.com, crutchfield.com, appshopper.com etc. It doesn't even work on your own support site (https://discussions.agilebits.com/)j. When I update my password there, using 1Password, I'm still not prompted to save the updated password. This option seems to have gradually disappeared until it doesn't work anywhere; when I first started using 1Password a year or so ago I would say it worked on 19 of 20 sites...

    Hi @altimac,

So we know we have a couple of bugs here to address.

    1. Are we referring specifically to password change forms? If we are and if you use the Password Generator to generate the new passwords then our beta 1Password Browser Extension should help here.
    2. If we're referring to standard login forms how do you currently fill the password field for that first time? If it's using the Password Generator then we are aware of this and do you instead find 1Password offers to save if you copy and paste the password?

We hold our hands up, we know there are fixes needed to better improve the experience in the browser.

Thanks for your response, it's actually both of the above. updating a saved password using the password generator or creating a new account on a site using the Password generator. Just so I'm clear on this, you are suggesting that if i create a new account on a site and manually enter a password without using your PGen at all, or using the PGen but copying and pasting in the pw without using the Fill option may be a workaround? or at least help to isolate the issue? is there a beta version of the extension i can try that may fix this issue? Happens on my wife's Mac w/Yosemite and on many of my clients' Macs also ;-(

Following up on this, I just tried updating two saved passwords in existing logins, one of them at AppShopper.com and one on this very support forum and I did use the Password Generator, but instead of using the Fill option I simply copied and pasted the password and I was presented with the "Update existing login" dialog both times ;-) So clearly you guys have some issues with the PGen Fill option preventing the browser extension from detecting that the password has been updated. If you have any kind of beta in the works that fixes this, I'd be happy to give it a whirl...

    Greetings @altimac,

Your findings match our known issues, that filling with the Password Generator results in 1Password not asking if you want to save or update. This turned out to be a bit more complex that we had hoped and requires modification to 1Password for Mac, Windows and the extension to get it properly fixed. It is known though and we know this needs to be resolved.

If you fill using the Password Generator and as a result 1Password doesn't offer to save/update then while it's certainly not great, at least 1Password does save all used generated passwords as individual Password items in your vault. So any password used has been recorded and when done from within 1Password mini it will record the site it was generated on which should help while we get this properly fixed. Copying the password also creates a Password item as we do this on any action that suggests you're intending to use the password.

Got it, I will look for the next update and in the meantime I'll advise my clients to avoid using the Fill option when they're creating new logins or updating existing ones. Thanks for the info.

Sorry for the hassle and hopefully we won't have to wait too long.
