iCloud Sync Question

Hi,

I am just wondering why it is not possible to sync multiple vaults with iCloud (the actual reason for it. If it is an Apple restriction, etc.). I would rather not use Dropbox if possible. Is it possible to sync multiple vaults with the wi-fi option?

Thank you for your time.

Yes, you can do that—but currently only on the basis that the primary vault and all secondary vaults will sync at the same time. (I.e., you can't choose to sync only selected individual vault(s).)

I'll leave your other question for one of the AgileBits' staff, if I may (I'm merely a volunteer here).

  • Hi @Snuffy,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. 1Password can sync multiple vaults via WiFi when syncing with 1Password 5 for Mac. You can read more about that here:

iCloud doesn't have any sharing abilities. It wouldn't be possible to share a secondary vault that were synced with iCloud with another individual. This is one of the main reasons we have not brought multiple vault syncing to iCloud at this point.

    Thanks!

I see. Thank you Ben and Stephen. So it looks like the only "bad" thing about the wifi sync is that it is not automatic and requires you to manually type in a password each time I want to sync. Am I understanding that correctly?

  • Hi @Snuffy,

It is automatic in the sense that all you need to do is launch both 1Password for Mac and 1Password for iOS on the same WiFi network, after initial setup. It is not necessary to type the "sync secret" for each sync.
