app will not accept master password that I use on all devices I PHONE ^
APple tech support suggested your app to store secure information.
I use same master 4 digit password on all devices. Your app will not let me use Touch ID or this password to enter vault. I restarted the I phone 6 last night around 9 pm EST. Today I updated your app to the 6.1.1 software still no results.
Apple tech support advised to DL ipassword on my ipad to download from the icloud backup. Does not work as it rejjects same master 4 digit password. Icloud shows my backup data is in storage but your app will not let me in.
Tried turning ITouch ID on and off. workd on the phone , not your app.
Frustrating How can you get my backup data onto the phone OR let me reset the master password or restore my Touch ID ( which works on the phone , now NOT your app).

@annakonrad you have posted in three separate threads about the same problem. I have merged two of them because having separate posts on the same issue makes support a real challenge and makes it harder to find the answer you need.
Please also be aware everyone dealing with support here answers posts from oldest to newest so repeated posting merely pushes you further down the list. I'm sorry about that but it really is the only fair way to do support.
I am not understanding your basic problem clearly. Please tell us whether your master password works on your devices (not the PIN code or touch ID). The really crucial thing is the master password. The reason I'm confused is because on one post you refer, more than once, to your:
master 4 digit password
and in another to your "master password". I'm hoping that your actual master password itself is not a 4 digit PIN but a suitably strong phrase.

Thank you for explaining how your support works. My master password was [deleted], or my hint is 4digit usual numbers. I tried just the numbers and then what I always use [deleted]. All lower case.
Your "master password " only requests started this morning . I thought your lockout was due to me not having updated my ip6 software for you which I did . Now my iCloud backup is in 6.0 and your app is in 6.1.1. Touch ID still works on my phone . Downloaded your app to iPad (6.1.1) and it will not create a new vault without master password
Please help. I have looked through your your site most all day fur suggestions -made sure both devices were in the same router, etc.

@annakonrad I have deleted your references to your master password. This is a public forum and you never should post those sorts of details here. In fact, once we have everything working for you I think you should change your master password to something much more secure. Take a look at this knowledge base article for some tips:
How do I choose a good Master Password?
However, I know that's not your problem now, so we need to try to sort the present problem first.
I understand that you're now locked out of 1Password on both your iPhone and your iPad because neither will accept your master password and you can't open 1Password on either using touch ID. Your 1Password vault is sync'd between the devices using iCloud.
Both devices will, from time to time, require you to use your master password, notably when they are re-started or re-set. That probably explains why you can't currently use touch ID.
The key advice is that you must now use your master password to open 1Password on both devices. That same password would also be required to access your 1P data in iCloud. It's therefore vital that you recall correctly what master password you created when you started using 1Password. It's possible this knowledge base article may help:
My Master Password is not being accepted. What should I do?

Thx Stephen . I appreciate you deleting my public exposure of my often used "master password". When I hit post comment I realized this stupidity. Tired and hungry late Friday afternoon is never a winning combination.
More info: I upgraded my iPad software yesterday so the 4-digit ( yes not best choice) number originally used to access I password on ip6 is now a 6digit number for ip6 and iCloud . Does that provide any clues on how to unlock my mess?
Will be back after reading above knowledge base article
Thx0 -
Hi-oh yes, I read that article several times yesterday , https://support.1password.com/master-password-not-accepted/ios.html
do you think we have password comparability issues between original ipasswrd signup (4digits) and iCloud/ iPad access( now 6digits)? If so how can I get them to "handshake "?

@annakonrad sorry, I'm struggling to keep up so please forgive me if I recap a little.
Am I correct in saying your master password doesn't work on any device at the moment?
If we can get it working on one device we have hope of making some progress. :) When replying please ignore any pass code you're using to open 1Password. I am talking specifically about your master password—the crucial password or pass phrase that ultimately protects your 1Password vault. (I know you may have a master password that contains digits: that's fine, but just be clear it's the master password we're talking about, not a PIN code.)

Hello @annakonrad,
So unless there is a bug the way Touch ID should work with default settings is that you can unlock your vault just with Touch ID until the iOS device is restarted. If you restart your iOS device for any reason then it will require the Master Password for the vault. There is an advanced setting where you can instruct 1Password for iOS to ask for your Master Password on a more regular basis but this is turned off by default. Once 1Password requires the Master Password though there is no way to return to just using Touch ID until the vault has been successfully unlocked. The way Touch ID actually works is that your Master Password is stored in a protected and temporary location in the iOS keychain, a location that isn't saved in any backup. All that Touch ID does is allow access to this location so that the Master Password can be securely retrieved and your vault unlocked. So really it's only ever your Master Password that unlocks your vault.
So if I understand correctly you have never changed your Master Password at any point and even downloading a fresh copy of 1Password for iOS and using your Master Password does not allow you to gain access? If this is correct it doesn't bode well. It would suggest that for whatever reason the data in iCloud cannot be unlocked with the expected Master Password and the only other location where the data exists is also inaccessible.
The bad news is security is only as good the weakest chain in the link and if there was any way to reset a Master Password it would be abused. It's why our pages on forgotten Master Passwords are basically nothing but a series of suggestions of things that might help as there is nothing we can do. If we had any form of control somebody else would eventually discover it and abuse it - the power has to remain solidly in the hands of the user.
For a moment let's assume something has damaged the vault somehow. I can't imagine a scenario where that could happen and yet still work well enough to sync the damage over to iCloud, but maybe an iOS backup could retrieve something. It's a big step though as an iOS backup will revert the state of every app on the iOS device to this previous point in time but if something has happened to your vault then a backup from prior to that point may be what you need. It feels like a long shot though.
Just to ensure there's no confusion. Your Master Password, even if set to the same as your iOS passcode is still distinctly different and changing your iOS passcode is independent. So if you have changed your passcode at all it might be your Master Password is an older version of the passcode.
As with every case like this I really do hope you manage to regain access to your vault as I know exactly how devastating the loss of my vault would be to me and it's no less for anybody else.

Thank you for this clear explanation.- little bobby tables. I understand now that my iOS password is independent of the Ipassword even though they were the same and Pitifilly , today I am having to upgrade my pc software so I can upload the newest version of Itunes, so I can backup the iP6.
Right now no backup exists for iP6 except in the Icloud-- ( even the Apple tech guys DO NOT LIKE icloud as the sole backup). The APPLE Carpe Facto supervisor recommended that I use your app. Perhaps its too sophisticated for customers who are saving their credit cards and airline frequent flyer numbers and passwords. The only person who might hack into my phone is my dog.
,So the sad reality is that my vault is locked and my masterpassword does not open either device.$$$$ PLEASE have your engineers and programmers design a failsafe method for the non- tech general public$$$
So do I now kill your app and** repurchase** it to reload ALL the data? Sadly , my new hint will have to be the actual masterpassword.

Hi @annakonrad,
If you cannot get into your 1Password app, then yes, you will have to delete the app from your device and then re-download it from the app store again. Unfortunately it does sound like you will need to enter all of your data again.
