What is meant by restarting Safari? I just know to quit and relaunch. Same thing?
I’m encountering the “Safari can’t install extension” message. I’ve had the extension installed for months but suddenly it’s not working. I’ve quit and relaunched Safari to no avail. My next step is to uninstall the extension and start from scratch. I’m just not sure what is meant by the “restart" option. Is restarting and relaunching the same thing?

Hi @DerrickEver,
You're understanding it perfectly, restarting is merely terminating the app and loading a fresh copy. As a 1Password 5 user you can freely uninstall the existing copy of the extension and install a fresh copy with risk to your vault data. What I would recommend though is if Safari is complaining that you do restart Safari after uninstalling the current copy of the extension. I've seen some odd behaviour thanks to caching issues and restarting has always worked for me in avoiding that.
Let us know how you get along.

This was an easy fix. I decided to restart my Mac first (since that usually restores things), which it did. The extension is working fine now. Thanks for the response though, I’ll keep this in mind for future use.
