Two Primary Vaults on iPhone, 1 on Desktop Mac

Hi Guys, I wonder if you could advise please?

I have a simple set up, Primary Vault on my Mac which syncs to my iPhone via Dropbox. (all latest versions of software).

Recently a second primary vault appeared on my iPhone but this was not created by me on my desktop app or iPhone, and it does not sync, only my 'real' primary vault syncs, as it should.

I would like to find a way to delete this, as whenever I log out of my iOS app and go back in later, the app shows that all vaults have been selected for use. I then have to ensure I select the 'real' Primary Vault and unselect the other one manually.

Although this doesn't show on the desktop app as having a second vault, I wonder if it shows up because there is a copy on my Clone disk which is always attached to my Mac. Does this make sense?

Anyway, any help would be most welcome.

May I ask if the second vault that appeared unexpectedly contains data for the mythical Wendy Appleseed? If it does, its the Demo vault that a user can create in order to be able to demonstrate 1Password without revealing any confidential information. It's easy to forget that it's even there. But the newest update to 1Passweod for iOS includes the option to show all vaults, not just one at a time, and it also defaults to the all vaults view. There are a reasonable number of users who have been taken unaware by this mystery vault.

If that describes your situation accurately, you can remove the Demo vault from your iOS device by going into the 1Password settings, choosing Vaults, then Demo. You'll find the option to delete the vault there.

One other thing to be aware of is that this version also won't sync any vaults when All Vaults is chosen. Each vault needs to be accessed individually to initiate syncing. The developers are working on curing that bug for a future release.

Read one of your recent posts with respect to someone's customer in Texas who reported seeing this mythical woman's 'confidential' details!!!

No, no it's just an empty vault, no info contained in it at all.

Won't allow me to delete it by going into Settings> Vaults> Demo. If I created a demo vault it would allow me to delete it but this one doesn't give me that option.

Is Wendy in any way related to John from Cupertino?

Hi @PJ1 ,

When you go to Settings->Vaults on your iPhone - do you see two vaults listed there? If so, you should be able to go into each one, it should list the number of items in each vault. You should be able to go into the one with zero items and tap Remove Vault on the bottom. If not, can you let me know what you see there.

It wouldn't have anything to do with a clone disk on your Mac. But you might have a second, empty keychain file on Dropbox. You would have had to setup sync with that file manually though.

Yes, there are two vaults listed there, one has zero items in it but there is no option to remove the vault.

On the screen is:
Primary Vault
Start Syncing
Items 0

There are no other options available.

Some time ago I set up my wife as a second user on my Mac and copied my Dropbox folder to her so she could use the same vault. Subsequently, I deleted the Dropbox folder from her side and had to re-set my side to sync because 1P couldn't find the Dropbox folder.

On a search I found an old .agilekeychain vault in Library>Containers>com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper>Data>Documents. The vault I use now is a .opvault. I can't find any other vaults on my machine.

Okay. Quick update.

Deleted app from iOS, re-installed and everything seems to be fine now. Extra primary vault has gone and sync is working normally.

Howdy @PJ1,

Glad you were able to get things resolved. 1Password won't let you delete your Primary vault for obvious reasons, and if you have two of them the only way to correct things is to simply reinstall the app and add things back through sync, which is exactly what you did. :) So you're all set then.
