Best way & procedures to set up across all platforms iPad,iPhone, win10
I am trying to setup my iPhone, iPad, and a laptop and desktop on win10. Where do I start.
- Is mini 1password available on all platforms.
- I get confused because I read instruction manual and then cannot find things like preferences
- Should I start with one device, get one setup then sync all others. How to synchronize
- If so pc or iso?

Hi @rjennings2553,
Thanks for taking the time to write in. I'd be happy to help you get started.
Is mini 1password available on all platforms.
1Password Mini is a 1Password for Mac thing. It only exists there. 1Password for Windows has a similar thing called the 1Password Helper. There is no such concept on iOS as iOS does not have traditional background processes like Mac & Windows do. That said, the 1Password for iOS app and 1Password Safari extension perform most of the same functions as 1Password Mini (without having to run all the time in the background).
I get confused because I read instruction manual and then cannot find things like preferences
Could you please let me know which guide you are reading (URL) and which step you are getting hung up on?
Should I start with one device, get one setup then sync all others. How to synchronize
That would be my recommendation, yes. My recommendation for syncing would be Dropbox:
https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/sync-with-dropbox.html
If you'd rather sync via WiFi that is also possible:
https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/sync-over-wifi.html
If so pc or iso?
I'd recommend getting started and creating your vault on iOS.
As a couple of additional notes:
- The Windows and iOS products are considered separate products, and are sold separately. The iOS app is free for the base feature set, but there is an in-app purchase available for "Pro features" which is purchased separately from any 1Password for Windows licenses.
- I'd highly recommend reviewing the user guides for both Windows and iOS before diving in: https://support.1password.com/guides/
- When you do get started make sure you pick a Master Password that is A) memorable and B ) strong enough that you never have to change it. We do not generally recommend changing your Master Password unless absolutely necessary. If you forget your Master Password it is impossible to access your 1Password data (there is no recovery).
I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

Thank you very much, I will take you comments under advisement as I get started with the learning. 1 additional question. I had put in a PIN numbers and I have never found a place to use it or is that only in the 1password mini?

Thanks, @rjennings2553. Where (which product) did you set up a PIN in? 1Password Mini does not use a PIN.

Okay, great! On iOS either a PIN or Touch ID (depending on your device's capabilities) can be used instead of always having to type your Master Password. Please note even with this option enabled it is critical to remember the Master Password. You can find the settings for this following the instructions here:
https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/settings-security.html
Please note that this option will only work if the device itself is protected by a PIN / Touch ID (though the 1Password PIN can and probably should be different from the device PIN).
Thanks!

I have a pin set up for my iPhone but when I try to set one in 1password that option is no available in security tab. Any advise, it works great on my iPad. Using iPhone 5s with latest Ido version. Any suggestions?

What model is the iPhone? Is it one that supports Touch ID? If so Touch ID will be the only available option (no PIN).
Please let us know.

Thanks, @rjennings2553. The iPhone 5S supports Touch ID, so using a PIN with 1Password will not be an option. If you'd like to use Touch ID, you can do that. Instructions can be found here:
https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/touch-id.html
Happy Thanksgiving!
