Clipboard

Hi @feetr2c,
Sorry to hear about the trouble. 1Password can only clear the iOS clipboard if it is running. If it has been removed from memory either because iOS has run out of memory and has auto-killed it, or if you kill it from the app switcher, it cannot clear the clipboard.
Does that help? Please let us know.
Thanks!

I love 1Password and Agile has been responsive with an A+ with most issues.
But I have to say that that is a Lame response for a serious issue.
The setting says "Clear Clipboard".
It does NOT say "Clear Clipboard if 1Password is running."
This should be much clearer. Being as it is a SECURITY issue.
We have been living with false confidence in this setting for several years only to find recently that we have been led astray by our beloved 1Password.There is absolutely No excuse that this is not documented in the explanation directly below the setting.
And.... this apparently has been an issue for several years according to the multiple forum postings that I have read regarding this issue.
Why is there still no documentation on the disfunction of this "Feature".Ben said: "Does that help? Please let us know."
My reply is that it only helps just enough to know that I should not keep beating my head on the wall looking for a solution to what Agile thinks is a non problem.Security is a serious issue and even more serious in a mobile device as it is carted outside the house and around the world. 1Password has touted itself as the SOLUTION for this dilemma and yet I am now looking at this issue and wondering how many more of Agile's promises can be taken at face value.
I will finish by asking why is there no documentation explaining the shortcomings of this "Feature?"
And.. When will we see some?
And.. with a lack of a functioning "Clear Clipboard" in a certain amount of time can we please get a "Clear Clipboard on Quit".Thanks

Hi Tripp,
"Clear Clipboard on Quit"
If we could do this we probably would have. iOS doesn't make this possible.
to what Agile thinks is a non problem
I'm not sure that is entirely fair, but you're right: there probably isn't a lot we can do about this (from a technical perspective), due to the nature of how apps run (and are quit) on iOS.
With modern devices running out of memory is much less of a concern, and we don't recommend killing 1Password from the app switcher as a routine operation. Some folks seem to think going in and killing all "running" apps will help improve their device's performance or battery life... it does not.
Thanks for your feedback on this, Tripp. I'll be sure to pass the message along to our development and documentation teams for their consideration.

Good afternoon @Tripp. Thank you for taking the time to write in. You're absolutely right, we need to do better. When this feature was first written some of the rules governing when apps can perform certain actions on iOS was different. Unfortunately as time went on and policies changed we didn't go back and rework this feature like we should have. This is unacceptable. I'm going to be taking a hard look at what we need to do to make this right. It may mean killing off the feature altogether, which while unfortunate would be better than having a feature in place that doesn't work like it's supposed to. (Especially a security feature like this).
Thank you for holding us accountable.

We need some way to easily clear the clipboard. We cannot feel secure with the keys to the castle left in the clipboard. It is a real nuisance to work around this issue. Switch to another app > select some dummy text > copy dummy text to clear the clipboard. And if I'm feeling real insecure paste said dummy text into something to see that it all worked as planned. Just so we can quit 1Password with a clear conscience.
How about a "Clear Clipboard" button on the left. Maybe above the settings button. Or at the top below the browser button.Tripp

@MrRooni I think killing of the complete feature would be a bit of an overreaction. If it is possible fix this issue, if not, note it in the subtext of this feature or give it a pop up with a short notice when the user enable this feature or changes the time.
I have to say that I didn't know about that issue and I'm a little shocked that no one has at least commented it. But a fair point: I didn't noticed this malfunction once, I only noticed "damn it the cache already got cleared" ;)

If you are concerned about cookies you can use Safari's private mode with our Safari extension:
Enable the 1Password extension
Turn Private Browsing on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Thanks!
