I have 1password on my iPad, I have downloaded essentials. The old version I had would open once I input the master password and then there was an icon which looked like a small filing cabinet which I would open and then I would see all 20 of my items. Now I don't know how to open the vault to see my items! I need help

  • Hi @jzabkar,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. Where is your 1Password data currently stored? Where were you using 1Password previously?

    Please let us know.

    1. I was using a free version of 1 password which I downloaded to my iPad. It was very simple, just required a master Password to enter. After opening I was just required to tap the "file cabinet" icon to gain access to "all items". With the new version, I can open the 1password with the same master password but can't open the vault even though it says there are 20 items contained therein.
  • Have you tried tapping on the Categories tab? https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/finding-items.html

If you haven't already I'd highly recommend browsing through our user guide:

    Thanks!

    1. How did you do that? I have my old 1 password back. Everything is available again!
    2. Is this an old version?
    3. How can I upgrade to a newer version?
    4. I looked through the user guide but had a very tough time understanding it.
    5. Thanks for your help

    1. The 1password 6.0 doesn't look anything like the 1password I have now. Did you change it somehow?

  • Hi @jzabkar,

I didn't do anything. We don't have access to your devices or your data.

    Is this an old version?

What version do you currently have installed? You can find instructions on finding out here:

Which version of 1Password am I running?

How can I upgrade to a newer version?

That depends on the answer to the above question. Also: what version of iOS do you have installed? Apple has a guide on finding out:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201685

I looked through the user guide but had a very tough time understanding it.

If you can please let me know exactly what you do not understand I'd be happy to try and explain further.

    Thanks for your help

    You are very welcome. :)

    1. I think I know what is going on. I used a demo version of 1password and that's why I can't find a version number. I entered 20 passwords into that program. I guess what I need to do is start all over as a new user with the newest 1password version. I am on an iPad using the most current version of iOS.
    2. Will I be able to run the same version of 1password on both my iPad and my Mac? The Mac is running Yosemite.

    Hi @jzabkar

I think I know what is going on. I used a demo version of 1password and that's why I can't find a version number. I entered 20 passwords into that program. I guess what I need to do is start all over as a new user with the newest 1password version. I am on an iPad using the most current version of iOS.

I'm not entirely sure I follow, as we've never offered a "demo version" of 1Password on iOS. 1Password 6 for iOS is free (with an optional in-app purchase for Pro features), but it isn't a demo. Which of these icons do you have? Do you have multiple copies of 1Password installed (more than one of these icons?):

Will I be able to run the same version of 1password on both my iPad and my Mac? The Mac is running Yosemite.

Not exactly, no. We do of course offer a Mac product, but it is separate (and sold separately) from the iOS product:

    https://agilebits.com/onepassword/mac

You can sync 1Password 6 for iOS with 1Password 5 for Mac (which is the latest version):

    https://support.1password.com/guides/ios/syncing.html

Please note that if you'd like to sync using iCloud 1Password for Mac must be purchased from the Mac App Store:

    Thanks!

    1. I have icon "D" and it is the only one on my iPad. I did sign up for pro features for $9.99 (I think that was the amount)
    2. The demo version was a guess on my part to try and explain what's going on.

    1. OK Ben, I've done it again! I cannot access my 20 items in my primary vault! It was working beautifully but now I am stonewalled. I am in settings, I touch vaults, it shows two vaults, primary and demo. I touch Primary and it shows I have 20 items but nothing happens when I touch "20items". I don't know what I did but I'm back to square 1.
    2. I have gone through the user manual and see nothing that can help me. I'm toast!
  • @jzabkar,

    I am in settings

Okay; that is the problem. :) Your items don't live in Settings. They live in Categories. This is the icon that looks like a filing cabinet:

I hope that helps. Should you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.

    1. Ben,that is the answer. The filing cabinet icon is grayscale so I didn't even see it. I don't recall anything in the user manual which points you toward the filing cabinet icon. Thanks for your continued support?

    Joe Z

  • You're very welcome. There has been some discussion internally about how we might be able to make the icons stand out more, so hopefully we'll be able to come up with something.
