UI issues on small screens

I have an iPhone 4S and have been having a few issues with the UI (these aren't particularly new).

The one I have to deal with most often is the password generator. I lack the inner calm necessary to set the sliders (for length, number of digits, symbols) to a desired value. While sliding it I have a hard time having it stay at the right value, and when I lift my finger the slider moves a bit and I inevitably end up with something different than I intended. Having a UI something like [ ## + - ] where ## is the current value, and the + and - are reasonably sided buttons would be nicer I think. (Not directly related to the UI, but having an "at least" option for digits/symbols would be cool as well).

Second, frustrating things can happen when the keyboard pops up, because the part you're working can move out of sight and there's no way to get it back in view. The easiest way to make this happen: try to edit the username in an entry with some other stuff further down: keyboard opens up, the username slides off the top of the screen.

I wrote out the second part of the comment too late at night. More precisely, the problem is not quite that you can't get it back in view. Say I want to change edit some character in the middle of the username. I select the username field, the keyboard comes up, and whoosh, there goes the username field. I can now scroll it back down and see it. But now I want to move the cursor to the middle, so I do the hold-and-drag-with-magnifier thing, but as soon as I start that, whoosh off the top again, and I can't see what I'm trying to move any more. This is not the only example of this kind of behavior (keyboard shows up and pushes what you're working on off the screen), it's just the one I can reproduce at the moment.

  • Hi @quztwiok

Thanks for taking the time to let us know about these issues. The trend of course is toward larger and larger screens, and the UI continues to grow to accommodate that. I'll ask our QA team to also include smaller screens in their testing, if they are not already.

    Thanks.

    Ben
