Failed to list remote data folder in Dropbox...

1P is working flawlessly on 4 Macs and 3 Windows (virtual) machines, but today on IOS 9.1 (iPad and iPhone) returns msg: "Failed to list remote data folder in Dropbox Path: /1Password/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default/

I've reinstalled 1P on in the iPad and re-linked it to Dropbox to no avail. The Shared vault appears to sync correctly, but the Primary continues to return the error message, above.

1Password Version: IOS 6.1.1

    Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Dropbox sync. Let's see if we can't get this straightened out.

First of all, let's make sure that 1Password is keeping logs that will be useful to us if we need a Diagnostics Report. Please go to Settings > Advanced > Diagnostics > Log Settings. We'll want to enable logging for 'Dropbox' and 'Sync'.

Now, I'd like you to try removing the Dropbox account from 1Password. Hydraht, you mentioned resetting sync, but let's try re-adding the Dropbox account itself. When you're viewing your Dropbox account details in 1Password, simply tap the ⓘ (info icon) to get the removal option.

If re-adding your Dropbox account doesn't work, please send in a Diagnostics Report.

    https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/ios.html

Attach the Diagnostics Report to an email message addressed to support+forum@agilebits.com.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can track down the report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks very much!

Here's how I was able to circumvent the "Failed to list remote data folder in Dropbox Path" problem:
    1. Opened 1Password on Mac, emptied trash. This left 1150 items in this vault.
    2. Exported All Items (note file size of .pif was 1.3M) and quit 1Password.
    3. Made a copy of the 1Password.agilekeychain file from the Dropbox local directory and saved it on another volume (note, size of this file was 678M)
    4. Deleted 1Password.agilekeychain from both the local copy and Dropbox cloud copy and turned off Dropbox syncing. I noted that 1Password still had all of the entries, so I selected them all and deleted them, just in case. I assume 1Password keeps a cache someplace I couldn’t find.
    5. Started 1Password and imported .pif file. It had 1150 items in it, and looked to the eye exactly like the previous file (nice job with .pif export, by the way)
    6. Started Dropbox syncing.
    7. On the iPad (IOS 9.1 iPad Air 2) and iPhone (IOS 9.1, iPhone 6S) opened 1Password and synced the new vault. No error messages, and apparently everything is present, including details such as the website icons.

  • Excellent news. Thanks for the update! I would recommend securely erasing the 1PIF file now though as it is not encrypted. Interesting that the previous Agile Keychain file was so large. Have you checked the size of the new file? Have you verified all of your attachments (if any) are present and accessible?

I haven't used attachments, but good to keep in mind.

The recreated keychain is 1.9MB. I've been using 1PW for years, through many releases. Perhaps the files had accumulated digital detritus in all that time.

  • That may very well be the case. I would not expect to see a keychain that large if there were no attachments present. Glad to hear a rebuild fixed the issue.

Just updated iPhone, iPad and Mac. The Mac update left the Also sync (!) Primary vault with {None | iCloud | Dropbox | Folder} as None.
No way to deal with this on on the iPhone or iPad, had to manually set the Primary vault sync method on the Mac. Sync then worked across all devices.

I tested with a backup of my iPhone and recreated this.
    Please fix for next update.

  • Hi @IanMcFarlane

What version did you update from and what version did you update to (on the Mac)?
