"There is no application set to open the URL onepassword4-extension://activate/Safari." all I did was click "update 1 password" and now I am receiving this message. I have no idea what to do.

  • Hey @nikki,

    What version of 1Password, the 1Password extension, and OS X are you running? We'll need that info to help you figure out what's going on here. :) It sounds like you may not have the 1Password extension installed, but let's start with version details first.

    I deleted the extension and downloaded a new one. This is the new error message I am getting.

  • @nikki That's very strange. Could you please double-check your 1Password version by following this guide? Also, could you check to make sure you don't have more than one copy of 1Password installed?

    @nikki:

    If I delete and reinstall will i lose all of my passwords?

    Not if you do this:

    1. Drag the 1P app to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool, which is likely to try to delete files you need to keep).
    2. Empty the trash and reboot.
    3. Re-download and re-install 1P.

    So long as you follow those instructions that will not affect your 1P data. Note you should download from the place you originally bought 1P (the Mac App Store or the AgileBits store).

    Hi @nikki,

    Thanks so much for letting us know that you're all sorted out! I'm so glad to hear that Stephen's instructions worked.

    I hope that 1Password behaves perfectly for you from now on, but if you have any other questions or concerns, we're here for you! :)
