Symbol granularity in passwords

I can’t use symbols in my passwords many times as each site chooses only several from the entire set, that it will allow you to use. What is even more frustrating is that after a password is generated, you can’t insert the “I-beam and backspace a character and make small changes to comply with the symbols subset of the particular site. It is very frustrating and aggravating. So I just set symbols to zero, and then my password is less secure, and THAT is frustrating! I brought up this subject more than a year ago, after the last major 1Password update. Clearly, it’s annoying a lot of people. It’s time to fix this.

@pellucid: I'm sorry you're annoyed by the password generator! While I am confused about your issue with the 'pipe' (|) and deleting characters, we'd very much like to continue to add more controls for password generation, as we recently did with Wordlist support. Thanks for letting us know this is important to you. Hopefully we'll be able to gain your approval with a future update! :)

Pipe? I meant the insertion point (I-beam). You can not make small change to a generated password. You have to regenerate a new one entirely. That doesn’t work because you can’t use all the symbols. i’m sure you are fully aware of this problem. I don’t know if you realize how annoying it is to your loyal users.

  • I see. Brenty thought you were referencing the ability to add a "|" character to the password (the one that shares a key with "\").

We do understand the problem now and will happily pass the feedback to our development team for their consideration.
