Sync over Wi-Fi not working - Operation timed out

Hey there,
I can no longer sync 1Password for Mac (5.4.1 from the Agile Web Store) running on a MacBook Pro (El Capitan 10.11.1) and 1Password for iOS (Version 6.12 running on an iPhone in iOS 9.1). Since I'm no Dropbox user and have no intentions of becoming one, I can only use Wi-Fi syncing. As I understand the version from your web store does not support iCloud-sync. The problem is, that I can no longer use Wi-Fi sync.

I get the following message:
Sync Problem
Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomainCode=60 "Operation timed out"

I've tried everything I could think of including re-install and setup up Wi-fi-sync time and time again. Doesn't change a thing. I would love to try iCloud-sync, but we bought a family license from the web store, which doesn't support it, and I don't want to pay again for 1Password for Mac.

Any help is deeply appreciated
Cheers
Flo

@FloHassler I'm unclear, from what you say, whether you saw, and tried the suggestions in, this knowledge base article:

    Wi-Fi Sync is not working

The best immediate suggestions are to:

    • reboot both your devices; and (if that doesn't work)
    • reboot your router.

If you still have a problem after that take a look at the linked knowledge base article, which has further suggestions.

@FloHassler: Indeed, there's a lot that can go wrong with Wi-Fi unfortunately...but fortunately that guide will walk you through checking your setup to help narrow down the issue — and perhaps even resolve it. Please let us know what you find! :)

    Hey guys,
i did like 99 percent of the things on that list, except for one tiny bit: checking my os x firewall again. And that resolved the issue. Incoming traffic was blocked by the firewall. It's working now! Thanks so much for your help and sorry for bothering with such a simple error on my side.

  • Thanks for the update @FloHassler! No worries; that is what we're here for. :) If we can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

@FloHassler: It's no bother at all. And in case it makes you feel better, I've seen cases where the firewall was silently blocking traffic even when it was ostensibly turned off. Leave no stone unturned!
