Masking

I would still love to see more masking options when it comes to customizing fields. For instance, aside from passwords, I like to see username and account number fields masked. The point being, I would like to decide what gets masked and have the ability to make it so.

  • Thanks for the feedback, @Macorin. As you've pointed out at present only password fields are concealed, but I'll be happy to pass the suggestion along to our development team for their consideration.

Thanks Ben. 1Password seems to have started out as an easy way to store passwords for the purpose of logging into online accounts. I think this is its backbone and real strength. It's since morphed to try to become more of an all around database. A database has confidential info more than just passwords. Again, if I'm viewing a bank account or credit card entry, I don't want someone looking over my shoulder to easily see the account number or security code. I don't want them knowing my social security number or username. In fact, there's a ton of examples that I can think of that I might want concealed until I choose to reveal them. This seems pretty rudimentary as far as secure design is concerned. Thanks for listening.

    Hi @Macorin,

Thanks for describing your use-cases :+1:

You can achieve the desired result by adding custom section and custom fields (available with the Pro Features) to any item type. Here's how do do it:

    • Select an item and enter Edit Mode.
    • Scroll down a bit and tap on "Ad new section" then tap on "Ad new field"

    • Select the Password which automatically conceals the value.

    • Optionally you can rename the new section and field.

    Hope that this helps

    Hi Rad,

I've tried that and don't prefer that method. It's time consuming and messy. Thanks though.

  • Thanks for the feedback! We'll continue to investigate ways to make the process smoother.
