Computer not found

Today I decided to Wi-Fi sync my 1PW iOS for iPhone 6Plus to my Mac versus DropBox. I was able to do so but, upon retesting, I get the "Computer not found" error message on my iPhone. I can resolve this problem by relaunching 1PW on my iPhone but the problem reappears, for reasons TBD, sporadically. Both my Mac and iPhone are definitely on the same Wi-Fi network and I have no network issues to my knowledge. In other words, my iPhone can, for example, AirPlay to my wireless speaker. Any ideas?

If I toggle Wi-Fi off & on on my iPhone, then 1PW iOS will sync properly. Then, if I close and relaunch 1PW iOS, and try to sync, I get the "Computer not found" message. But, as noted earlier, my iPhone is definitely on the same network as my Mac and has no problem outside of a 1PW iOS sync. Could this be a 1PW software problem?

    Greetings @jmb679,

Do you have more than one vault in 1Password for iOS? We introduced a new view called All Vaults recently but a particularly annoying bug connected to Wi-Fi Sync slipped past us. It might be Bookmark Known vault sync issues in 1Password for iOS describes your scenario and if so we are aware and working on it as we speak. Does it seem likely this is the same bug that you're experiencing?

Yes, I have more than one vault. However, I have disabled all but my primary vault. I followed the procedure as described in the link, but I am still getting the same error.

    Hello @jmb679,

Unfortunately there isn't any tweaking you can do at your end that will help here, the fix needs to come from us but it does mean we know that the issue affecting you is the one we're working on.

This bug is a pain and hopefully it we can get it resolved soon. I'm a Wi-Fi Sync person myself so I know just how irritating this is.

Hi Agilebits team, any update on the fix to this bug? Thank you

  • Not yet, sorry. The iTunes Store shuts down for app updates over the holiday so we cannot currently submit any updates.

The App Store's Holiday Shutdown Set for December 21st thru December 27th | TouchArcade

We do currently have a fix in beta, so if all goes well (fingers crossed) we'll see that in a stable update soon. It will still need to be reviewed by Apple after the shutdown, of course.

    Thanks.

First let me say I love the app. I rely on it daily. I am in IT and it has saved me and my customers many password headaches when I can pull up a password just like that. So that being said, please, please fix this A.S.A.P.. I am only able to sync one vault of my three. It is hurting my business.

  • Thanks for the feedback, @TechnoMinds. We've already created the fix and are just waiting for it to make it through the process before it goes live.

I am having this same issue, only with my iPad as opposed to iPhone. Also, I only have the primary vault. I have turned all devices on and off, double checked the wi-fi network settings, but no go. Works fine with my iPhone. HELP!

  • Hi @jennmengis,

Have you ever been able to sync the iPad, or only ever the iPhone? And, just to clarify, you cannot see the computer (Mac?) that you want to sync with from the iPad at all? But it shows up on the iPhone?

Not sure I am following the question. When I am on the iPad and go to Vaults, only one is shown, Primary. When I go to Sync, the Primary vault is listed with Wi-Fi across from it. Underneath is the Sync Now field. When I click on that, that is when I get the message: "Computer not found 1Password could not find a Mac or PC to sync with. Please make sure your computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network and is running 1Password app with Wi-Fi sync option enabled." All the criteria have been met. Computer and iPad rebooted and process run through several times. when I click on the Primary tab in the Sync tab, it tells me it hasn't synced for 30 weeks.

  • @jennmengis

Could you please try running through the WiFi sync setup on the iPad again? Instructions can be found here:

    Sync over Wi-Fi | 1Password for iOS

    Thanks!

I can't even get that far! Like I said, ! See the attached file. When I click on Sync Now, this is what I get:

  • @jennmengis

Sorry if I was not clear. Instead of tapping on "sync now" tap on the Primary vault in that screen. If you get the "computer not found" message anyway, simply dismiss it. Once you're in the Primary vault sync settings disable syncing altogether and the set it up again following the guide I linked above. :)

Please let me know if that helps.
