If I install 1Password on my iPhone and I lose or break my iPhone, how do I recover my p-words?
My trusted computer will be where I work, and I can only back up over the local WiFi not cloud or dropbox (corporate policy). My concern is, if I load all my passwords onto my iPhone and either lose or break it, will I have access to my passwords before I can obtain a replacement iphone? Or alternatively, is it possible to print out an occasional hard copy backup which I would lock in my safe?

Hi @bbelchoff,
Thanks for taking the time to write in. If I understand correctly you plan to have 1Password on your work computer (Windows?) and on your iPhone, and sync them via WiFi. Your concern is that if you lose your iPhone you may not have access to your passwords until you return to work. Is that correct?

I had planned to use it solely on my iPhone and had assumed 1Password would back up like everything else when I do regular iPhone backups via iTunes. But I can't find anything in the user guide regarding routine backups. Anyway, it sounds like maybe you're advising me that I need to obtain 1Password for both my iPhone and my Windows computer, and sync them, correct? Otherwise I don't have any way of backing up my iPhone 1Password? Thanks for bearing with me, I get myself easily confused with iThings.

Thanks, @bbelchoff, for the additional details.

It may; but I'd highly recommend against relying on device backups for your 1Password data. They have not proven to be reliable, which is one of the reasons we include a backup utility right in 1Password:
Creating and restoring 1Password backups in iTunes (iOS)

That would certainly be one option, though it would mean the additional cost of a 1Password for Windows license. If you don't really plan to use 1Password on a computer that is a not so insignificant expense just for the purpose of housing a backup.
Most folks do find though that it is very convenient to have 1Password and use it on all of their devices.

Just to clarify: your employer won't let you sync apps on your phone with iCloud or Dropbox? I take it the phone is company owned? That'd be unfortunate if that were the case, as one of those options is likely about the fastest way to get your passwords back after the loss or damage of a device.
Another possibility would be a 1Password for Teams subscription (which includes all of our apps), but again would likely be overkill unless you plan to actually take advantage of the other features offered.

(Clarification) Yes Ben that is correct, the phone is company owned and we also are prohibited from using iCloud or Dropbox.

Thanks, Boris. In that case you'll want to do one or more of these things:
- Make regular backups using iTunes: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/
- Purchase, install, and sync 1Password for Windows (via WiFi): https://agilebits.com/onepassword/windows (may want to use the trial version first, especially to be sure WiFi sync will be possible)
- Subscribe to 1Password for Teams (currently free while in beta): https://teams.1password.com/
If you do use 1Password for Teams the apps are included, so you would not need to make a separate purchase of 1Password for Windows or the Pro features for iOS.
