@baat - unless you can remember that master password, you will be faced with starting over from scratch. No one has access to your data without it. Anytime your iOS device is restarted, you will need your master password, regardless of your usual use of Touch ID, so it is essential to keep track of it.
There are some suggestions that might jog your memory here: I forgot my Master Password. Help.
If nothing helps, you'll need to start over. To do that on an iOS device, just delete the application and download a fresh copy from the App Store. Deleting any application in iOS also deletes all of its data.

that is very inconvenient (to say the least...). especially since that was not clear from the initial instructions. is it not possible to grant access with touch ID once? that would allow me to retrieve all my saved passwords and make a head (re)start.

Quoting Step 4 in the User Guide instructions for setting up 1Password for iOS:
Enter a Master Password to keep your data secure. Your Master Password should be strong and unique. It also important to choose a memorable password because you won’t be able to access your data without it! We don’t store passwords and cannot help you retrieve your Master Password if you forget it.

Hi @baat,
To answer your question about Touch ID... The short answer is "no." The longer answer is that the way Touch ID works with 1Password is that you must first unlock using your Master Password. Then, if Touch ID is enabled, we store your Master Password (securely) in the iOS keychain. The next time you would be asked for your Master Password we check the iOS keychain to see if it is stored there. If it is, we will prompt you for Touch ID instead, and if successful we can retreive the password from the keychain. The Master Password is removed from the keychain if you reboot the device, turn off Touch ID, or reach the timeout set in
1Password > Settings > Advanced > Security > Require Master Password
.If the Master Password isn't in the keychain there is nothing Touch ID can do.
