Accessing 1Password on iPhone (5s)

I've been trying unsuccessfully for six months to be able to use 1Password on my iPhone. I set up the extension first in my Share menu, but can't get to it when I am on a web site for which 1Password has a stored password. What am I missing? Frustrated.

    Hi @mlcorwin,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write in and for using the 1Password Extension. I am really sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the 1Password Extension.

Are experiencing these issues on all websites or only on some websites?

Here's what I did to test it:

    • I made sure that I had an amazon.com Login stored in 1Password.
    • I then went to amazon.com on Safari for iOS and hit the "Sign In" button.
    • Tapped the share button and selected the 1Password Extension.
    • Unlocked 1Password.
    • Selected my amazon 1Password login and it filled in the form.

Did you encounter any issues while following the steps above? If so, could you please send me detailed steps to reproduce?

You can also refer to the Fill items in Safari article from our User Guides.

I look forward to your reply :-)

Hi Rad and thank you for your interest. Yes, that technique works for me, but it's frustrating having to enter and re-enter my master password for each web site, and enter them twice for a two step log in. Time consuming.

@mlcorwin - Unless my recollection is faulty, that iPhone 5s has Touch ID capability. Have you activated that within 1Password? That makes opening 1Password much less painful than always entering the master password.

Thanks, I'll try that again. I stopped that before because Touch took more time than no Touch. But I did not try using 1Password during that test.

In addition to having to enable Touch ID for your phone itself, you will also need to activate it in the 1Password preferences.

  • Good morning @mlcorwin. I did spend a fair amount of time during the development of 1Password 6.2 to ensure that Touch ID is as fast as it could be, so you should see some improvements there.

If you need a refresher on how to get Touch ID up and running within 1Password you can read more here.

Thank you all for helping. I am doing as you each suggested. The main problem (at least MY main problem) is that the Share option does not always come on. What to do?

  • @mlcorwin,

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "the Share option does not always come on"? Could you give me an example, step by step, of an instance where things do not behave as expected?

    E.x.
    1. I launch Safari on my iPad
    2. I navigate to http://www.google.com/
    3. I click on the "Sign in" button which takes me to https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?hl=en&passive=true&continue=https://www.google.com/
    4. I tap on the Share button in Safari
    5. I select the 1Password extension from the Share sheet
    6. I am prompted for my Touch ID fingerprint, so I place my registered finger on the Touch ID sensor
    7. I select my Google login, and 1Password fills my credentials
    8. I tap on the login button on Google's website and am logged in

    Please let me know.

    Ben
