Hi, I am using 1P Pro on my iP6, but can not see my attachments on the iP6. The 1P version I am using on my Mac (10.9) is version 4. Can somebody give me some directions? Thx, Ken

    Additional info:
    1P Pro on iOS: 6.2
    Mac OSX: 10.9.5
    Sync type: WiFI

  • Hi @ramrooch,

Thanks for taking the time to write in. Attachment syncing over WiFi was not added to 1Password for Mac until v5.0.1, so you would either need to upgrade to at least that version (which requires OS X Yosemite or later) or switch to Dropbox for syncing in order to sync attachments from Mac to iOS.

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks Ben, it sure helps.

1 question though.. syncing via Dropbox: does this mean that my data (incl. attachments) is -also- stored somewhere on the Dropbox servers?

    Regards, Ken

    Hi Ken,

Yes and no. Your confidential data is encrypted before being sent to Dropbox's servers. Dropbox does not have access to your data. Just as you need your Master Password to unlock 1Password any Dropbox employees that might gain access to your sync file would need your Master Password to decrypt it.

You may find this article helpful:

Is it safe to sync my data over the cloud?

Do note however that older versions of 1Password for Mac use the Agile Keychain database format for syncing, and not all information is encrypted using this format:

    Agile Keychain Design

All usernames, passwords, notes, attachments, etc are, of course, encrypted. Some meta data such as the title and URL associated with items are not encrypted, and could be viewed by someone who has access to your keychain. Our new keychain format, OPVault, does encrypt these fields as well:

(iOS) Switching to OPVault from Agile Keychain

(again this would require a newer version of 1Password for Mac, as outlined in the article)

    Thanks!

    Ben
