Can't sync 1Password on iPhone. I've tried dropbox, iCloud, and Wi-Fi, all of which I have accessed on my computer

Hey @ceepz. Sorry you're having issues with sync. Could you tell me if you're getting any errors in the iPhone app, and what your settings in the 'Sync' tab of the Mac app are?

Please open settings on the Mac app (cmd+comma), and click on 'Sync', then your primary vault, and let me know which sync type is chosen.

Thank you for writing in, cheers from Canada!

You need to be more specific. Do you mean open 1password on my Mac? If so, I don't see a settings option there. Where am should i be looking for the settings?

  • Hi @ceepz,

Sorry for the confusion. Pressing cmd+comma within the 1Password for Mac app will open the preferences/settings.

    Thanks

Sorry if I'm being dense, but when I do the cmd+comma i get this image and I don't see anything about syncing.

  • Hi @ceepz,

That looks like 1Password 3 for Mac. The latest version is 1Password 6 for Mac. Is there a reason you are running the older version?

Don't know the reason, it's what I have and it works. I'm happy install new version if I don't have to pay for it. Where/how and is that why it's not syncing?

  • Yes, running the older version on the Mac would severely limit your sync options. You already have a 1Password 6 for Mac license. If you are running at least OS X Yosemite you can upgrade.

How do I upgrade 1Password for Mac from version 3?

In case you don't have your license handy, I've resent it to you.

    I hope that helps!

Ok, I upgraded. It says it syncs with folder. I don't see a wifi sync option there.

Ok, I'm all set. Figured it out and synced. THanks for leading me in the right direction!

  • Thanks @ceepz!

I noticed from your screenshot that you are Folder Syncing your keychain to the Applications folder, which may cause some difficulties down the road. I'd recommend turning that right off if you are using WiFi sync. You can turn it off by clicking on that dropdown menu where it currently says "Folder" and change it to "None." You'll still be able to WiFi sync as that is set up separately (as you found).

    Thanks!

    Ben
