1Password defaults to "All Vaults" after it has been locked (started happening after upgrade to 6.x)

Some co-workers and I have recently updated to version 6.0.1 and after we unlock the app we have noticed that it keeps defaulting to "All Vaults." This is annoying for a number of reasons, but mostly because we all have personal vaults and a shared work vault.

    Hello.

I think the new aggregate 'all vaults' view can be very helpful.
The problem is that it seems to be the default view/vault that I get when I unlock 1Password (mini).
While this is probably the intended behavior I really want my primary vault to be the one I see when I open/unlock 1P. I really do.

Sure, I could uncheck all other vaults from the 'all vaults' view so it'll only show the contents of primary vault. But then the 'all vaults' view has no meaning at all.

So please include an option so I can set my primary vault as the default vault (to show up on unlock) again. If I've missed a trick or setting that remedies this please let me know.

    Thank you.

Yeap, one of @lepolt's co-workers here. This started after the 6.x upgrade. We share a common vault for our IT resources, but 99% of the time I just want to use my personal vault. I'd be okay if it didn't default to the last option, but required me to pick a default vault. Either way, the "All Vaults" being default after unlock is very undesirable.

The whole "All Vaults" concept is nice for viewing, but really gives me pause when creating a new login. I'm always afraid the new login is going to accidently end up in the shared vault.

    Hi @lepolt, @1P4Me, and @workmanw,

(@1P4Me, I merged your post with another new discussion about the same thing, I hope you don't mind!)

Thanks for letting us know you'd prefer to see your Primary vault after unlocking 1Password, instead of the new All Vaults view! I can't make any promises one way or another, but I'd be glad to pass your feedback along to our developers. We've received some similar requests from other customers, and in case you're curious, you can find a good conversation about that in this other thread.

Although I can't say for sure if we'll end up adding a setting for which vault to show when unlocking 1Password, I do have a couple suggestions for now which might be helpful. One is to go to Preferences > All Vaults and un-check each vault except for the Primary vault. That way, the All Vaults view will look just like your Primary vault.

Another option would be to unlock 1Password, then use the ⌘1 keyboard shortcut to quickly/easily switch to your Primary vault. I know it's an extra step, but I wanted to mention it in case it helps.

    @workmanw, to address your concern:

I'm always afraid the new login is going to accidently end up in the shared vault.

In the main 1Password app, under Preferences > All Vaults, you can choose which vault is the default to save new items. If your personal vault is the Primary vault, choose the Primary vault for that setting. Then, whenever the 1Password extension prompts you to save a new Login item, it will default to the Primary vault (although you can choose a different vault if you want to).

Thanks again for taking the time to let us know! If you need anything else, we're here for you. :)

    Hey @Drew_AG,

Thank you for taking the time to write up a detailed response. I took your first suggestion and turned off my shared vaults for under the All Vaults settings. This is a decent workaround for the time being. I would really like to see this experience improved because I do see the value in being able to look across all vaults.

    Thanks again,

I'd like to echo these comments. The new behavior is pretty frustrating since I almost always just want to search my primary vault. Could it at least be modified to remember which setting was most recently used (all vaults vs. specific vault) instead of requiring me to manually set that each time?

All Vaults is new, and this is our first implementation of it. There's definitely room for improvement, and using it ourselves and getting feedback from you folks will help us refine it in future versions. Thanks so much for the feedback! :)
