Workflow
There's no doubt 1Password keeps improving. However, there seems to be a lot of room left for workflow/experience enhancements.
I'd like to share a few areas where I think improvement is needed.
1) tagging shouldn't require the user to type the entire tag each time if the tag already exists. Ideally, previously entered tags would come up as you type. For example, if the tags technology and transportation exist, as I type "t" both would show as buttons for me to choose one. If I don't and continue typing, "te" or "tr" the corresponding tag would remain and the other would disappear. If I type beyond a recognizable existing tag, both would disappear, allowing me to finish typing to create the new tag.
2) specialized action fields such as phone, email, sms would come in handy. If I choose to create a phone number field, not only would the keyboard be formatted to easily allow me to type the phone number, but tapping the phone number when not in edit mode would launch the phone application and make the call. The same would go for the corresponding email and sms fields.
3) there needs to be a better field creation process. It isn't so much that field creation doesn't work or isn't useful, it's just that it involves annoying, unnecessary steps. For example, when you create a text field, the word, "Text" populates the field title. Does anyone actually keep that title? (I'm going to assume that some do), but I for one always change it to an appropriate name that corresponds to the information I am filing there. If it is an account number, I'm typing "account number"... It's not that this can't be done, but rather the continuous redundancy of having to go through the extra steps each time you create new fields. My second issue with field creation is the inconsistency of capitalization. All pre-filled 1Password fields are populated with capitalized first letters. This goes for default fields as well as new field creation. The word "Text" for example is capitalized. However, back spacing to customize the field name leaves you with an uncapitalized starting point. The inconsistency is pervasive throughout the app. Again, there are ways around this, but it takes extra work. These are convenience features I know, but ones that would improve the user experience by creating a much more efficient work flow.
4) I'm still experiencing problems in edit mode where I can't scroll down to the tags, notes and delete button sections of an entry. The entry just isn't fully scrollable at times. This is common and repeatable.
